The bar on the edge of the French Quarter was half-dead at 1:47 a.m., neon flickering, air thick with spilled bourbon and cheap incense. Maya had come here alone after a long shift at the ER, still in scrubs under her denim jacket, hair pulled into a messy knot, dark skin flushed from the heat and one too many mezcals. She wasn’t looking for anything serious. Just heat. Friction. Something to make her forget the twelve-hour code she’d run that afternoon.

Maya waited patiently, her arms crossed in front of her, "I-um, the issue with my room has been fixed and I'll be going back soon." She arched a brow at him. Was that what he was so nervous to say? "Oh, I mean you're welcome to stay as long as you like." He waved his hands, shaking his head in negation, "Nah, I've grown nauseous of seeing your faces whenever I wake up." Maya chuckled but nodded. She opened her mouth to say something but it was cut off by a buzzing sound. "Can you hold on for a sec?" Just as he was about to answer, his phone rang. He answered immediately. My heart raced as I heard Blazer's voice on the other end. "We've found Maya," Blazer said, his voice grim. "She's in a really bad shape, Sir. Naked, half-dead. We found her in an abandoned house deep in the woods in Oregon. She's covered in thick bruises. Barely breathing," He paused to catch his breath. "We were on our way to a nearby hospital, and a roadblock appeared out of nowhere. If we don't take her to the hospital

I told her, stepping out of the car. As soon as we entered the room, Maya collapsed on the bed. "I love it here, Rylan. The mattress is so soft," she giggled. "Make an order now. My stomach is growling. And don’t forget to get pizza, frappé, and some alcohol. I want to get drunk," she said. "You don’t drink," I reminded her. "You’ll teach me," she replied with a mischievous grin. "No, we’re not getting alcohol. Stay a good girl, okay? I don’t want your mom thinking I’m a bad influence."

I agree. We drive to the mall. I count what I have in my purse while they're choosing their flavours and decide we can manage it if I skip the coffee I was going to get for myself. Noah gets chocolate with sprinkles. Maya gets strawberry and takes exactly four bites before she's done with it and wants to walk around the mall.... A few minutes later, we're heading back toward the exit, when Maya just stops, completely, in front of a boutique window. "Mommy." She's already pressing her hand to the glass. "Mommy, look."

Lucas replied, treating the whole conversation as a joke. ​Maya stood up. She then pointed toward the hallway on the right where the restrooms were located. ​"There's a private restroom over there reserved exclusively for the GM's guests. We can do it in there," Maya offered with a wink. ​Lucas was stunned to hear that. ​Was she being serious? ​Lucas swallowed hard once again. Naturally, the immense temptation to enjoy a taste of heaven suddenly surged within him. ​"Come on, what are you waiting for? Someone might come by!" Maya urged.

Lakshmi kept on pleading. "I don't like to dance. '' Mia went to sit down on the couch while she watched the other girls practice. After 4 hours of practice the girls got very tired and it was time to retire to bed. While Grace and Juliet shared a room, Mia and Lakshmi slept in the same room. The next day the girls were up and practicing again, this time they had mastered the dance better than yesterday. They learnt and mastered 2 dance steps in two days, they were slow but Lakshmi had faith

Soon the car stopped and Maya looked around the place which looked so familiar. She looked at the building in front of her and at the top was written boldly ‘ McDonald's ’ and frowned upon seeing it as it brought back old memories to her. Maya remembered when Chris had taken her and Skyler here and they all sang one at a time. She looked at Scott who was looking back at her.

Christian said. "Then what's the fun of it if it is minimal?" Tyler smirked. "I give up." Christian murmured. **** Makaila got to her house in the evening, wet sneakers on one hand, bag and roller skates in the other. She entered the house and saw it was a mess, indicating that her dad had a party, again. She saw him sitter on the couch watching a TV station and started to walk pass him. "Hey, come back here." His deep voice snapped. Makaila stopped and turned to him.

Maya smiled mysteriously. "Well, you need somewhere he'd never think to look." I stared at her blankly. Was there anywhere in this city Ryan couldn't track me down if he really wanted to? I just needed a few days of peace. "Julian, you live in SoHo, right?" Maya called out. Julian nodded as he entered. "Yes. Why?" "Serena could stay at your place! It's farther out, and Ryan would never think to look there," Maya suggested with a mischievous grin.
