The Perfume Burned His Eyes Novels & Stories

No matter what happens to me, I don't care anymore; that's all I need to do in my life before I disappear. I grabbed on to their hands tighter as I heard the doors swing open. The smell that came in from the door was sickening. It seems like a mixed perfume is wafting along with the smell of something burning. It was sweet, fruity, earthy, and a bit musty; it was disgusting.

Frank was one of those people who would look exceptionally good in anything he wore, even if it were just rags. His face was shrouded in mystery. There was an aloof look in his eyes. He forced a smile; again, it didn't reach his eyes, and frankly, I didn't mind because I understood his predicament. No one would lose a beloved family member and be all smiles and excitement just a couple of days later. "Come in," I said ecstatically. He strode in and removed one hand from his pocket, extending it to hug me close. His very expensive perfume hit my nose. It was a different one this time. It had a strong masculine fragrance mixed with camwood. I inhaled the much-needed air and exhaled.

Not even Edel. “Come and say hello” his mother interrupted my gawking. My eyes shifted to her for a second before returning back to him. My legs moved in their own accord. With each step, I drew closer to him. The smile on his face died out as i drew closer to him. “Lavender and roses” he murmured like he just discovered something. I frowned at his statement. Lavender and roses were the common ingredients in my bath wash and perfume. When I looked up at him again, he had a burning rage in his eyes and it was directed at me.

Asides from the fact that he’s a mafia don and my captor, he looks like a walking muscle of trauma. “Sensai 33?” the man asks out of nowhere, sniffing the air. “Yes?” I blink, surprised that someone knows the brand of my perfume. He hums in approval. “Good taste.” “Really?” “Yup. A solid choice. Sandalwood, cedar, a little leather. Classic.” He crosses his arms.

"How did you find me?–” I leaned in and stared intensely at him. “I was certain that I wasn't followed.” "You should change your perfume, then. Amore La Vida is a very strong scent and it makes it easy for me to find you.” I was dumbfounded. He knew my perfume?! I said nothing and relaxed in my chair. I made a mental note to keep an eye on him. “We will move soon. We just need…’’ I felt a pain in my chest and I began to cough violently.

“I want to be alone tonight.” Melanie’s voice was low. And then, she hung up. Jeffrey put down his mobile and picked up the Endless Love perfume that William had just sent over and opened the perfume cover... The familiar scent entered his nostrils. It was the perfume that she made for him. He almost lost his memories, almost forgot everything that was burned into his bones... He didn’t know how she was able to have the bravery to pick up this perfume again... And to face “him” who was already dead...

He seemed completely exhausted. “Henry, I looked for another perfumer and I got a bottle of perfume from her. Smell this. Do you feel better?” She did not dare tell him that she had gotten this bottle of perfume from Sharon. He sat in his wheelchair without moving. He did not respond to Tammy at all. Tammy opened the bottle of perfume and sprayed it in the air. The fragrance wafted into his nose. This familiar scent was… Appreshar! Nobody else could find the scent more familiar than he. This scent belonged to Sharon!

"Of being safe. A long time ago. Before everything went wrong." More silence. I heard him shift. The mechanical whir again. "What perfume was it?" His voice was softer now. Almost gentle. It threw me off. "I don't know the name. I never knew perfume names. But it smelled like... like roses and something else. Something warm." "Jasmine." "Maybe. I don't..." "It was jasmine." He wasn't asking. He was telling me. "Roses and jasmine. From a French brand. Very expensive. Very rare."

His blue and green eyes were expressionless and cold while looking at the scenery outside the building. “Heh!” The man scoffed as the peach-scented pheromones flooded his nose. “Such a lowly breed . . . Oh.” He was about to walk away when he accidentally dropped the glass of perfume which was now broken with its contents scattered on the floor. “What is this?” He exclaimed, trying to cover his nose with his hand. “Sh*t! I- I have to get away . . .” But it was too late. The strange perfume has vastly inhaled by him.

[note to QI: above line says perfume too, so I kept this neutral/vague by changing to liquid] She then glared at me and asked, "Did you tamper with the perfume, Helena?" I shrugged my shoulders, looking completely innocent. "What on earth are you talking about? Why don't I understand what you're getting at, Queenie? Is it possible that your perfume has simply gone bad?" Queenie asked through gritted teeth, "Didn't you realize that the person who uses this perfume can't actually smell it? How did the perfume I gave you end up on my vanity, Helena?"
