The Perfume Burned His Eyes Novels & Stories

He was met with her wide eyed expression. He followed her gaze to the screen on the building to their right, which was playing a commercial. It was a perfume commercial. At first, he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the commercial that made her eyes pop but when the commercial replayed, he finally saw it. That blue high heel-shaped perfume bottle! Wasn't that the bottle he had watched her design in his house a week ago? It was even the same color and the name inscribed on it was identical to the one she was going to use for Gem Bliss's new perfume!

I couldn’t help how I was; I blushed easily, I got flustered and nervous easily, and he had this intimating and overwhelming aura around him, I couldn’t help but be timid when I was in his presence. I could almost imagine what I had looked like; the skinny and pale waitress with ginger hair and green eyes who blushed literally all the time. His smile grew as he stared at me a moment longer without speaking, and my blush intensified. Finally he spoke: “I like your eyes”. He said. And before I could stop myself, I said: “I like your perfume”. There was this….fragrance that always came with him, something caught between sandalwood and musk, and probably something else, it was….sensual.

That part was easy. I smelled it right away. From the moment I got out of my car, and gazed upon the flames engulfing the mansion, threatening to reach the trees surrounding it and spread further into the pack. It might even get to another pack if it wasn’t contained. The odd scent I picked up in the flames was a flowery perfume. And I found the spot where it’s coming from. Someone had gotten into the house, splashed some perfume on one of the circuits, and lit a match to it. Well, I’m not sure if it was a match, but I know the rest is true.

"AHHH! FUCK! SHIT! MY EYE!" It felt like someone had taken a molten hot iron rod, dipped it in battery acid, and shoved it directly into my eyeball. Tears poured out of my eye like a broken dam, but the liquid only carried the pepper deeper into the delicate tissue, burning a trail of fire down my cheek. "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Onyx screamed in pure panic inside my brain. "WE ARE BLIND! THE ENEMY HAS BLINDED US WITH POISON!" "IT'S PEPPER, YOU IDIOT!" I roared out loud, staggering backward until my lower back slammed into the edge of the sink. "AHHH! IT BURNS! IT FUCKING BURNS!"

“NOT THE VEIL—NOT THE VEIL—NOT THE VEIL!” “It didn’t hit the veil!” Helena shouted. “Calm down!” I hurried over to Olivia and dropped to my knees beside Olivia. “Are you okay? Do you need to sit? You should rest.” “I’m fine!” Olivia insisted breathlessly. “It’s the damned perfume! What even is that? It smells like concentrated roses and death.” “It is French,” Miriam snapped defensively. “It’s elegant. And perfume does not make someone vomit.” My head lifted sharply.

A scent emanated from his shirt as he walked past me. Tuberose. That was Perry's kind of scent. How did he suddenly have it?

I wiped my mouth and rubbed it with the back of my hand until the friction burned my skin. I can still smell his scent. Strong and dominating exactly like him. If anyone else could smell it, they'd probably think I bathed myself in some kind of perfume. In his case, forest and mint. I frowned when I realize what I was doing, taking in his scent. Annoyed, I turned on my heel and barrelled my way towards the door. Fuck this. Fuck him. I balled my hands into fists, stomping my foot on the floor as I harshly wiped away my tears.

(Flashback) The force of his presence hit me like a blow, knocking the already precarious breath out of my body. His scent, expensive cologne over some deeper animal smell like ozone on the breeze before a storm battled with the cheap perfume and sweat on me. His eyes, those horribly dark wells, scraped me from tangled hair to tottering shoes, a cold, anguishing inventory that left me bare far more ruthlessly than the little black dress ever had. Disgust, bitter and hard, poured from him, with rage.

Instead, he smiled slyly and leaned closer to me, and I caught a whisp of his perfume. It smells heavenly, wait a minute! 'Why does his perfume smell familiar?' I thought with a frown on my face. My frown deepened as I figured out where I had come across the perfume. " What happened, amore? Are you smitten by me already?" He whispered in my ear, and my face became ghostly pale, freezing in shock at how close he was to me. This confirms it!!! Tears welled up in my eyes, and he chuckled, pulled himself away from me, and stared at me in disgust.

“It’s my fault.” I looked up at him and close my eyes as his thumb wiped my tears away. I sniffed. “Wow, you’re wearing the perfume I gave you!” He chuckled. “Yeah, I remember, this smell is your favorite.” I smiled but my smile vanished when flashbacks of our past flashed in my mind like a slideshow. Damn.
