Every now and then, distant footsteps echoed somewhere beyond the corridor before fading into silence again. Our afternoon in the library had followed us home. Journals covered my coffee table. Loose sheets of parchment filled with hurried notes were scattered across the couch and the floor. Maps, family trees, and names of forgotten kingdoms were scribbled across pages in three different handwritings. Really, this school is for those who wants to make a name in every aspect of the world economy, and amidst all of this, a girl walked through the corridors of the school, not knowing that she caught everyone's attention as she passes by.

Their teacher smiles as they argue — respectfully, passionately. One girl raises her hand and asks: “Why is it called Phoenix?” The teacher replies: “Because it burned once. And then it rose again. She should have been allowed to go to a regular college like any other nineteen-year-old human who’d survive the torture of high school. But no, she had to attend this place with all sorts of supernatural species who could kill her without a second thought if it wasn’t for the fact that it was forbidden.
