I stared straight ahead as I entered, too angry with my father to even look into his eyes. “Welcome, Enzo,” the Alpha King said, gesturing to the chair next to Selena. She was wearing a thin silk gown that was a blood red color, and had her hair pulled back into an intricate braid. For a moment, I forgot that she wasn’t Nina, and I thought that she looked beautiful… But as I quickly reminded myself that she really wasn’t Nina, she suddenly became much less attractive in my eyes. With a forced smile, I sat down beside Selena.

"WAIT, your highness!" Selena called out as Prince Killian took slow strides to search for his bodyguard. Taken aback, the prince came to a halt, spun around, and peered at the youngest Forcas who had left her unfinished meal. Dressed in a simple white t-shirt, pink above-the-knee shorts, and pink flat shoes, Selena flashed a toothy smile at him. "Did you forget your room is on the second floor?" She jogged up to him, her fiery red hair in ponytails bouncing on her shoulders.

When he turned around, Selena froze. It was him. Matthew Kingland’s stormy grey eyes landed on her, cold and calculating. The small scar near his left eyebrow made his handsome face look even more ruthless. “Miss Selena Jesus?” “Yes… I’m Selena Jesus,” she replied quietly, her voice slightly shaky. “The doctor mentioned that someone might contact me about an opportunity.” His voice was deep, cold, and commanding. You’re late,” he said, voice deep and indifferent. Selena’s earlier spark of admiration died instantly, replaced by irritation and exhaustion.

For whatever reason, Selene wanted Raina to see what happened. I could tell what she saw had upset her. Watching wolves die while you could do nothing was damaging to the soul. Raina was a kind hearted person so I knew she was taking it hard. All I could do was support her through this and whatever else the Goddess wanted her to see. She was strong and I think Selene knew that too. Why else would she pick Raina to give that vision to? I had just finished writing an email when I heard the front door close. Figuring it was Raina, I got up from my seat and exited my office. I heard Raina and Victoria’s voices coming from the foyer. As I turned the corner, their words stopped me in my tracks.

Hearing the king's words, Drake halted in his steps with his eyes wide open in confusion. ‘Did the King just thank me?’ Drake asked himself before turning to meet the king's eyes. “Thank you, my king." Rayne observed the woman lying on the bed in the dimly lit room. He could see she was sweating. Rayne took a small towel beside the bed and used it to clean his forehead. After observing her for more hours, he left Selene in the care of the maid. Selene ran among the woods when she saw a replica of herself walking into the woods ahead of her. Her small feet continue to press through the dry leaves on the ground. The air was heavy, and she could hear the owl hooting.

Ava’s voice broke, but she pushed forward, desperate. “Every night, I sang to you. Do you remember? You couldn’t sleep without it. ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’” Ava’s voice cracked, and then, she began to hum. The sound cut into Selena like glass. She pressed her palms against her ears, but the melody was already inside her, clawing at something buried deep. Damien stood in the doorway, his jaw locked, he wanted to step in, to hold Selena, but Cassandra’s grip on his arm was iron. “Let her,” she whispered. “This isn’t ours to fight.”
