Then, from the eastern ridge, the forest itself moved. Howlspire wolves, taller, leaner, their fur bone-white and their armor lined with obsidian, descended like death incarnate. Behind them came Brokenstone’s warriors: stockier, armored in earthen colors, their weapons jagged and forged for maiming. And at their center rode Redmaw’s war chief, a female wolf draped in crimson furs, her mane braided with the claws of her fallen foes. She raised her war horn. It sang the beginning of slaughter.

She rose, her gaze fixed on the horizon where the city’s fires shimmered like a thousand crimson eyes. Below, Valenfort prepared for yet another war where humans, vampires, and everything in between would soon redefine what it meant to call something peace.
