Chapter One: Asking the Sea to Erase It All. The sea shimmered in the wind, with distant twinkling lights on the horizon. The cheerful and always positive Sea is now crying— no she was sobbing, while holding her bags, as if she was kicked out from her house, as she sadly looks at the school as if it would be the last time she would be able to see it up close.

Fishermen returned early, muttering of voices beneath their boats. The sea sang, faintly, like glass being touched by wind. Solenne stood at the shore again, humming back. Mira ran to her. “Inside, Solenne.” > “They’re not dangerous,” the girl said. “They’re lonely.” The sea responded—a pulse of light, expanding outward. --- Adrian rushed from the cottage, grabbing Solenne’s hand. > “Enough,” he said, voice trembling. “You can’t keep listening.” “If I stop listening, they’ll scream.”

One couldn't see from one end to the other. It was like a sea was floating above the Barren Settlement, only, the settlement seemed like an ant compared to it. It was fortunate that the Barren Settlment was truly remote. Otherwise, even if nobody knew of their exisitence and lcoation before, someone would've definitely noticed the giant sea floating in the sky. All of a sudden, Soho opened his hand and clenched. The entirety of the floating sea contracted in the blink of an eye and entered Soho's clenched hand.

This woman finds herself stranded on an island after her ship breaks apart on the rocks. It was one of L. R. Gloucester's works, a rather torrid Gothic novel.

Axel asked gently. Sea tilted her head, eyes narrowing with that eerie intuition kids sometimes had. “Because when I look at her, I see two things. A flash of Mom’s face… and a skull. She isn’t human, Daddy. The first time she touched me, I felt like life was being drained out of me.” A breeze swept past us, cold and sudden. Axel and I froze. Sea blinked up at us, innocent, as if she hadn’t just casually ripped the ground from beneath our feet.

Keys left with Tomás, who received them with the same vast Atlantic composure with which he received everything, and who stood on the dock as their boat left for the mainland and raised one hand — a single, complete gesture — and then turned back to his island.
