Novel & Cerita The Selection Review

"Well, I heard that the S&GM only selected fifteen companies to present themselves on the bidding selection. Out of hundreds, they only take fifteen candidates." That news made me stop myself from typing on the keyboard. I quickly turns to him and look at him intently. "I thought they are into open selection for the bidding? Why the sudden change?" "Well," James sat on the vacant chair Infront of his desk. "According to my resources, Director Wines of the Northern State Branch declared that it's more comfortable to only select few companies to represent during the day. Less time and less efforts. His secretary even contacted the participants this morning to inform them."

The clerk looks up. “The material regarding household collusion and external collection pressure is entered and will be referred for separate investigation under Council authority. That investigation does not, by itself, suspend Selection law as it applies to an unmarked Omega whose presence has been formally noted.” He pauses. The pause is not merciful. “However: the older precedent cited in the letters is not without standing. The recognition claim, while unsealed by a mark, has been attested in public and under formal review. This chamber will not collapse the window to immediate Selection today.” Alder starts to rise. The clerk’s hand lifts again.

She had spent weeks preparing for this moment. The council members gathered before the raised platform, and Elder Rowan stepped forward. "After reviewing the results of every challenge, the council has reached its decision." The hall became quiet again, and I glanced towards Alpha Theron. His expression remained unreadable. "Lady Selene has demonstrated the strongest combination of leadership, judgment, political understanding, and capability throughout the selection." Elder Rowan lifted the final record. Applause erupted almost immediately. Selene closed her eyes briefly, then lowered her head as her family embraced her.

"They're not sure I'm fit to go." "Concerned enough to reject you?" "I don't know. They said my case requires further review. Senior review. Which means it's out of their hands." Ronan was quiet for a moment. When he spoke, his voice was measured in the way it always was. "I can make some calls." Elias turned to look at him. "What?" "I know people within the organization. People who oversee the selection process. If the medical team is uncertain, I can make sure the right people look at your case differently."

This was the moment that decided the fate of the Republic. I leaned closer to him, lowering my voice. “How does the selection begin?” Leonidas didn’t take his eyes off the council. “The mates of the candidates are taken to a separate room,” he said quietly. “No one knows what happens in there. When the mates return and stand beside their Alphas, the selection is complete.” I blinked. “That’s it?” He nodded. "As far as I know, yeah." I stared at him, stunned. “So the selection for Alpha King is based on the mate?”

A man who looked at me and saw his dead mate's sister, nothing more. How had I ever thought I was special? Kain walked to the raised platform at the front of the hall, and I watched his face carefully. He looked uncomfortable. None of his usual cold confidence, none of the arrogant command he usually carried. He was going through the motions, hating every second, and it showed in every rigid line of his posture. When the noise finally died down enough for him to speak, he kept it brief. "Thank you for applying. The selection committee will review all applications and narrow the candidates to ten finalists based on bloodline, temperament, accomplishments, and compatibility with pack needs. Th

I stopped next to him and nudged him with my elbow. “What’s this?” I asked. Eric looked a bit startled to see me standing there—sometimes I had a habit of slipping through crowds unseen and sneaking up on people with my short stature—but then shrugged. “Internal selection for warrior camp,” he said. “They’re choosing a group of warriors to participate in the Southern Werewolf Warrior Championship.” “Are they picking any combat managers?” I asked. Eric smirked at me. “Why, you interested?” “Of course I am.” He finally nodded his head toward the bulletin board. “Take a look for yourself.”

They left the reception way too early, so he’ll cross them out of the list too. Vren grits his teeth, contemplating his choices. There’s Andrei who’s been the best man to Kathie’s maid of honor – a fiery redhead that he had occasional conversations with. The best man and the maid of honor was a great pair. They would’ve hookup last night if only Andrei swings that way. So far, said pair had the same interests and “preferences.” Four brothers (one of which is the groom) and one sister – all could have been of use at crises like this one. Vren Parkinson, a second of five siblings, only has one more choice: his friend Nathaniel Forester.

I asked aloud now. I had mixed emotions. I didn’t understand why I would be selected for such a role. It just didn’t make sense. Or was this another way the moon goddess wanted to introduce torture into my life once again? — it made more sense seeing it from that perspective. As expected, the Kid started to speak now. “You were chosen because you possessed all the attributes she the moon goddess was looking for in her life of the one who was to become her Champion, Ciril.” He said.

Zara sat with this for a long moment. "One per decade," she said. "Chosen how?" "The selection criteria are Aldric's. They always have been. He's held the director position for thirty years long enough that the mechanism is entirely his at this point, whatever original oversight existed has either retired or been managed out." He said, managed out with a flatness that communicated its full meaning without requiring elaboration. "The selection happens in the fourth week. It's presented as an academic distinction, an advanced research fellowship, additional access, language that sounds like an honor."
