"From that data, we built SkyShield II. It needs a commander, someone who's been through hell and emerged unbreakable." He slid an appointment document across the desk. "Mary, our country needs you." I looked down at my once-shattered hand and smiled. "Alright."

I reopened that post and messaged the girl who wrote it. She replied not long after. We agreed to meet at a small coffee shop downtown. She was tiny, thin, and dressed in simple clothes. She looked like she was still in school. I could see the grievance, mixed with quiet anger, in her gaze. After getting her permission, I asked her to walk me through everything: how her ex had lied to her and how she found out about the whole selection game. She had already gathered a stack of evidence. I recognized her ex right away. He was one of the guys in Fred's group chat. I had met him before; he was polite and soft-spoken, the kind of guy people trusted at first glance.

"You made a fool of yourself for a woman. What a disgrace!" He waved his hand, and the butler handed him a stack of files. Philip tossed them in front of Jonathan impatiently. "Go through the files. These are daughters from proper families. They're not as rich as us, but they're better than that college girl you're dating. Break up and come back. Marry one of these girls, then inherit the family." But those words seemed to strike a nerve in Jonathan, and he shoved the files away. Philip shivered in rage. "What are you doing? One of these days, you'll give me a heart attack!"
