Siron asked his shadow. The shadow nodded. It reached out a hand, or rather, a shadow hand, toward the bookshelf. A mist of shadows crawled from the wall, enveloping the area around the cup. The light from the sprout was completely masked. Below, the black-robed figures looked confused. They looked at each other, then slowly began to disperse, vanishing into the shadows of the street. "It worked," Siron breathed in relief. But the shadow looked thinner, more transparent. "Hiding it exhausted you," Elara said.

To my shock, they pulsed warm beneath my skin, then dissolved into nothing. The library opened to me. --- Scrolls. Tomes. Relics. All buried under centuries of dust. The air itself felt alive, thick with whispers of memory. I trailed my fingers across shelves until one book seemed to pulse against my palm. I pulled it free. The line was said to be cursed, extinguished by fire and war.

“According to Wan, they are running to him as soon as they locate Shadow’s presence inside the book.” Of course, nothing could fool them. Despite how well made this book was, Eagle’s aura and presence were too much even for this book and Wan. Shadow’s power might not affect the book much, but it would become troublesome once she let others’ personalities take over the body. Shadow’s presence wasn’t exactly weak, it’s just that the rest of the personalities were superior. “And of course, we don’t want any confrontation by them, right?” Sabrina questioned him with a shaky and curious tone. “We don’t want that, right?”

Wolves were running all over, and then she got a mindlink. "The Shadow Howlers are here, and it looks like they came to fight," Her dad said in the mindlink to the pack. Why would The Shadow Howlers come to their pack? They were the pack that basically policed other packs, but The Last Moon Pack hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, they were so vanilla that Bianca hoped her mate would take her away. She picked Trisha up and ran toward the pack house. They got to the front porch just as the warriors arrived.

“It burns.” The echo answered. Silver light streamed from the baby straight to him thin threads of moonlight that wrapped around the dark veins. The black lines shrank hissed and faded until only clean skin remained. The fighter gasped looked at his hands then at me. Another wolf from Harlan’s line a woman named Sable cried out. “Me too. It is pulling the shadow out.”

“So I’m your shadow now?” Damian stepped closer, eyes sharp. “You’re under my protection. There’s a difference.” The room seemed to shrink, his presence pressing in, heavy and undeniable. For one terrifying, intoxicating moment, Amara wondered if the danger wasn’t outside at all - but standing right in front of her.
