The singing of the scouts stopped as if a throat had been cut. The Silence of the South had finally spoken. The Price of the Threshold The feedback hit me like a physical blow. With the siphons destroyed, the massive energy I had channeled had nowhere to go. It surged back up the glass spit, hitting my chest with the force of a tidal wave. The glass shattered.

When there’s no voice left to scream, no tears left to shed, I curl up on the cold wooden floor, a shaking, silent wreck. There’s nothing left to stand on. Not even hope. The silence presses in… until something splits through it — a sharp, violent crack, like the house itself is snapping a bone. My heart lurches and I jerk upright, breath caught halfway in my chest.

The woman continued. "There were three." The realization hit instantly. Nova's heart skipped a beat. The First Silence. The Second Silence. And, "The Third Silence," Lira whispered. The First Memory closed her eyes. "Yes." Another heartbeat thundered across existence. BOOM. The city shook violently. A bridge collapsed in the distance. Crystal shattered. Ancient structures cracked. The Second Silence remained staring upward. His expression darkening. "He was imprisoned deeper than either of us." Nova looked at him. "He?"

He asks with an odd tone, as if he was barely getting out the words, fighting some sort of pride by asking. "Uh... fine?" I respond as more of a question when in all honesty, I'm not fine. I'm so fucking confused with my life right now but I'm doing what I do best, pushing everything down until it all explodes. Until I explode. The rest of the ride went by with him asking me random questions, trying to make small talk. I just gave blunt one word answers and he took the hint before leaving me to myself in silence. “I already am.” The whisper left her lips like the ghost of a promise that would never stop bleeding. And then everything inside her shattered. Her legs gave out. She didn’t fight it. She sank slowly to the floor, the cold seeping into her skin as her fingers trembled against the wood. The silence swallowed her. Not the soft kind..the violent kind. The kind of silence that screamed. The kind that came after a funeral, after a gunshot, after a door slams and doesn’t open again.

Dante didn’t miss it. “Easy,” he whispered. “You’re safe.” The lie sat heavy between them. Inside the elevator, the doors slid shut with a soft finality. Silence wrapped around them, thick and suffocating. “You’re shaking,” he said. “You’re watching me again.” Her gaze snapped to his. “Does it ever stop?” “No.” The elevator dinged. The conference floor was already full. Men in tailored suits. Women with sharp eyes and sharper smiles. Power hummed through the room like static.

The "Executive-Node" of Hawke Tower was no longer a "Gilded" sanctuary of power; it was a "Total Sector Ruin." The "Acoustic Noise" of the wind, howling through the "Shattered" windows at 90 stories up, turned the "Iron Silence" into a "High-Frequency" scream. Glass shards, polished to "Sociopathic" perfection, littered the floor like "Data-Stains" of a collapsed empire.
