His Straight Pet
When I broke away, my forehead pressed to his, my voice was nothing but a rasp.
“You said I scared you.”
His breath hitched, shuddering. “You did.”
The shadows trembled, stilled.
“But you’re still here,” I whispered.
Silence stretched. Only his heartbeat answered.
Then his hand rose, tentative, trembling, and rested against my jaw. His thumb brushed the blood at the corner of my mouth.
“I’m still here,” he said, voice hoarse.
And I shattered.
