Staying home for days on end was starting to get to me, so I had to find something to occupy my time. I’d already finished every show I wanted to watch and knocked out six books from my reading list. I was beginning to understand how the lead in The Shining lost his mind.

The protagonist wandered through her perfect life feeling like a guest in it. Everything beautiful. Everything hollow. She questioned whether fulfillment was supposed to feel louder than this.

We walk past her walking towards the books that were in the back of the store. I turn back to look at her, I get scared as her face looked burned and her face was melting off her skull. I look away and shake my head trying to clear my head. "Hey look, there's a book about astral projection with tips on how to do it." She grabs the book off the shelf and walks over to the crystals and starts to look at various ones. She grabs the ones that look nicest to her, not reading any description on them. I tried to help but she shrugged me off and said "I like these instead."
