She wiped more blood on the cover, and just as she predicted, it broke free of whatever invisible chains that had been holding it closed, and opened for her. “Oh my gosh, it opened!” Juliet practically screamed as she reentered the room. Syanna wiped her eyes with the back of her shaky palms as she stared at the book. She had spent days—hours trying to open this damn book. And all it took was a drop of her blood. Why didn’t they think of that before! It was above her. Yet, just as she was about to reach for a page, her eyes started to flutter, her limbs went weak, and the entire world started spinning.

She flipped it open, but every page was a haunting, pristine white. On the back cover, a small, jagged stone was embedded in the leather. Driven by a sudden, magnetic curiosity, she touched it. A sharp sting pierced her finger. A drop of blood hit the stone. The book erupted in a blinding, ethereal light. Startled, Stella jerked back, clutching the glowing book to her chest. The old ladder creaked and gave way. As she tumbled backward, she felt the heavy bookshelf begin to tip with her.

Tyler and I followed behind him, watching as he pulled a book off the shelf and began to page through it in search of something. Tyler gave me a questioning look, but I shook my head, indicating that now wasn’t the time to recount Shane's brief reunion with his deceased family. Shane skimmed through the book, but then closed it with a sigh and began his search for another. His fingers brushed over the spines as he searched for the title he was looking for. He pulled another one off the shelf and began to skim through it, all the while muttering to himself under his breath, "Visions, visions, visions..."

My vision blurred, and a wave of dizziness washed over me as I began to black out. “Just breathe,” Gracie whispered, her voice echoing in my ears. “Let it take hold.” she instructed. The room began to spin, the glowing orbs around me blurring into streaks of light. My legs felt weak, and I struggled to stay upright. Jane’s POV It was quiet when I walked into the house, the blinds all drawn and the sunlight basking in, just the way I liked it. I leaned on the window in the living room, taking a look at the space that had been my home for the last three years. I couldn’t let it go. I couldn’t let a simple mistake ruin a lifetime of vows; a simple misunderstanding get in the way of love. Shawn was distracted, but he loved me. I knew that. All I had to do was make him see me again. And I had to forget Vegas and everything that happened in it. It was something I should never have done. I would talk to Shawn about it.

Sharon’s POV When I woke up, it felt like my skull was being split in two. My head throbbed so violently that I thought the world itself was spinning out of control. The first thing I saw was the dim glow of the firelight. It was orange and flickering, shadows moving around me like ghosts. Then I realized they weren’t ghosts. They were men. Six of them. rough, dangerous-looking men with eyes as cold as stone. Their clothes were dirty, torn in places, and their bodies were covered in scars that told stories I didn’t want to imagine. One of them noticed I was awake and nudged another.
