She grumbles, and turns to look at the edge, where the whole imperial city is visible in the pale moonlight “You come here every night?”
I nod, and tug at the sleeve of her shirt to lead her behind a dome rising on the roof. It should be enough shelter from the wind.
Dinah and I sit down, our backs to the glass dome of the palace. Here, the night sky stretches out for as far as the eye can see. It seems as if the earth has vanished, and we’re lost in a sea of black, scattered with clusters of stars.
“I’ve never,” Dinah says softly, her eyes reflect the sight above us “I’ve never seen such a bright sky before.”
