she murmured leaning against him again, staring at the full moon that was already up in the sky, reflecting her beauty on the water below her. Lucas looked at the same direction, feeling his mother blessing them from up there. He couldn't be happier. And his life felt complete by just having Selena between his arms and his mother watching over them. It did feel like the moon was giving them her blessing somehow. And that was how they knew everything was going to be fine. And whatever they had to face in the future, they would have each other. And that was more than enough.

Comforted by soft fur and the gentle rise and fall of Tete’s side, Hunter gazed into the deep azure bowl of the heavens lit by a dense swirl of speckled constellations chased by a spectral moon. Hunter still marveled at a spectacle he had never witnessed before, the newness and strangeness of it all. Within the forest, beneath its canopy which hid the sky, there was little occasion to look above because danger lay in the darkness before or behind.

There were no more lies or betrayals around me, only loyal subordinates and like-minded friends. My phone chimed again. This time, it was a message from my best friend. "Caitlyn, want to go to the newly opened world-renowned restaurant tonight? I heard the head chef is super handsome!" I looked out the window at the azure sky. A silver-white airplane flew across the horizon, leaving a beautiful arc in its wake. I smiled and replied, "Let's go."

There’s no way I’ll be taking any risks after what happened the last time. Matteo hasn’t told us what the plan is yet, or maybe I’m the only one who doesn’t know. Paola seems to be breathing in and out nervously, but it’s so silent in the car that I’ll be heard if I ask a question, so I’ll just have to wait and see where this will all take us. The sky outside is a sickly gray color, and the temperature is dropping with each passing day. I almost forgot what it was like to see the sky again, thick with clouds. The air up here smells so different, and fresh.

“Because The Watchers have always owned the international .” I felt my blood passes bloodless . The guy in black smiled. “Now you understand.” Above us, the clouds parted. And for the primary time in human history, we noticed them. The Ones Who Were Always Here Ethan’s voice turned quiet. “Oh… *shit.*” Rachel exhaled. “I really hate being right.” I couldn’t breathe. Because above us, descending slowly from the sky, have been shaped. Massive. Endless. Silent. Not UFOs.

Chapter Title: Beneath the Surface The soft steam from the hot tub curled into the night air, thick tendrils of warmth dancing toward the stars. I was nestled between Alex’s legs, back pressed to his chest, both of us sunk deep into the bubbling water of the massive cedar tub perched on the edge of his private balcony. The moon hung low and full above us, pale light gleaming off the water’s surface and kissing the tops of our wet skin.

⸻ That Night In bed, wrapped in soft sheets and half-asleep limbs, Elena whispered into the dark: “I submitted a new series to the gallery.” Adrian’s voice was low. “Yeah?” “They want to feature it. In a permanent collection.” He smiled in the dark. “Proud of you.” “There’s more.” She hesitated. Then: “I named the series Falling Between Us.” Adrian turned toward her, fully awake now. “And why that?” “Because everything we thought was a fall…” she whispered, “turned out to be a way forward.” He kissed her forehead.

“But hey, at least you looked good in the picture” His hand left mine and moved to my shoulder, his forehead, wrinkles from lifting his brows. “Kailee. The video is down” “But the sting of humiliation isn’t. People still think, I’m your pity pick” I shrugged to throw his hand off my shoulder He exhaled and looked around taking two steps that almost closed the space between us. The line between my boobs and his chest was so thin. I couldn’t look at him, all I did was stare at our feet.

"I can change back! I can fix it." I offered a slow shake of my head. "Not every broken thing in this world can be repaired." My cab pulled up to the curb, and I reached out to pull the door open, sliding into the back seat. Tristan stood frozen outside the vehicle, suddenly reaching through the open window to thrust the premium designer shopping bag toward me. "It's raining." I cast a brief glance out the window. The sky had indeed turned incredibly dark and overcast, but the first drops of rain hadn't even begun to fall yet.

Alexander and Jax found one in the wreckage of a lower-tier hangar, its carbon-fiber hull scorched but its magnetic treads still functional. As they ascended, the city began to shrink beneath them. From this height, the Northern Basin looked like a small, green thumbprint on a vast, white canvas of salt. Alexander watched the horizon, where the grey of the smog met the bruised purple of the winter sky. He could feel the altitude in his lungs, a thinness that reminded him of the "Digital Ascension" he had performed during the Icarus crisis. "Everything looks so small from up here," Jax muttered, his hands white-knuckled on the Sky-Jack’s controls. "It’s hard to remember that down there, peopl
