Then came the sound of heels clicking against the floor. Looking up toward the staircase, everyone saw a woman in a striking red body hug gown descending. Emily Havard was beautiful, no doubt about it. She moved with confidence, a practiced catwalk that turned heads. But she wasn’t Alexander’s type. Even he didn’t fully know what his type was. He felt nothing as she approached the table. She reminded him of all the women from his past, manipulative, wearing fake smiles, proud, and easy to see through. Yet something else entirely caught Alexander’s sharp attention.

I will never get hurt by those witches and dragons. I can protect you and this castle.” She proudly bragged. “You can stay here forever with me. And no one will hurt you too.” She added using her voice when playing. In a deep but squeaky tone. “There’s no need for you to do that, young maiden.” Said by the man standing at the threshold.

Chelsea noted. "It's because of the curse," Bryan replied. "What is this curse called?" Chelsea asked. Bryan explained it was the Midnight Curse, which kills the afflicted and their relatives within an hour if not treated. And if the curse is intense, even stabilization won't help. I sat on the ground, pained, feeling my heart slow and my senses dull. I couldn't make sense of what was happening around me. Chelsea's worried voice reached me; she was giving instructions to Belle and Bryan. I fought the pain, trying to draw the curse into myself so it wouldn't harm Flora or pass to Ivan. I couldn't let that happen.

PART 2 I feel like Sleeping Beauty and not just because we have the same name, but because we were both cursed and our version of death is more or less the same. The only difference is when Sleeping Beauty was kissed by her Prince Charming, her curse was lifted whereas I couldn't even touch my Prince Charming, much less kissing. But that might have to do with the fact I was cursed by a more manipulative and sinister woman and in my case, the love of my existence wasn't even a prince but rather a demon.

I muttered my precious book a sorry. "Emma. Stop teasing her now. That's enough. She is too young to hear any of that," Said the one and only angel remaining there; Auntie Bella. With that everyone went back to working still the two ladies giggled over something that I didn't want to know. Their fantasies were too dangerous to be heard by my innocent heart. Okay okay. Correction: not-so-innocent heart. After all the efforts and trouble. Finally, the apartment was set. Well at least good enough for me to sleep at night. There were still some boxes of my clothes and books.

The King clearly pointed out all perverted men and the Duke felt his heart clench. He knew he stood nowhere in the bargaining. The King made sense. “You will be allowed to pay a visit now and then. Plus, if she miraculously makes it past the curse then she would be the next queen. So choose wisely.” The King condescendingly walked to them and smirked seeing the duke giving it a thought. It was tough but it was for the best. He hates to know that his daughter is being used as bait against the Prince’s curse but it was better than not knowing how she was doing after his demise.
