After Ma’am Tadal went back into the faculty room, Mae could only stare at Kent. The idiot looked so happy when her instructor called him her boyfriend. His eyes even seemed to sparkle as he watched the teacher walk away. To be fair, Ma’am Tadal was really kind. She had been Mae’s favorite teacher during her first year. Almost everyone liked her. I picked up my timetable and navigated to my homeroom. “We have a new student. Please introduce yourself.” The teacher, Ms. McFadden, said to the class as she gave a sweet smile. “Hi, I’m Celeste…” I said, giving a little awkward wave. She gestured for my seat, right beside a dark-haired Indian girl. “Hi, my name is Freya.” She said, as soon as I settled into my seat. “Nice to meet you,” I responded, tucking my hair behind my ear. She was so bubbly and sweet—the kind of energy that I loved.

She said, “Yeah it's crazy and hard to believe but I always knew that Miss Esther is a nice lady and that she won't punish us for this." I said. “Yeah she is really nice now I see why you like her. She is now my favorite teacher, second to my dad of course." She said and we both laughed. I saw as Miss Esther was walking to her office, she stopped and glanced at my direction, I gave her a smile which she reciprocated, before she entered her office.
