My Mysterious Mate
The woman eyed me with suspicion, taking in my panicked expression.
Mustering a weak smile, I did my best to appear harmless. "Okay child, come on in," she said, waving me into the passenger seat.
I wasted no time, practically diving into the seat and laying low to avoid detection. My heart raced as the engine roared to life, praying that I hadn't been seen. The woman glanced at me, her expression conveying doubt.
I kept my head down, silently pleading for her to just keep driving. As the van pulled out of the parking lot and onto the street, I closed my eyes and silently prayed that I wasn't making a mistake.
