FELICIA I wanted to get to Beta Andrew. But when I got to the banquet again, all the Betas and alphas were gathered in the corner. A bunch of rogues were standing above them. The alphas and their betas were kneeling on the ground and their hands were tied behind their backs. The rogues held silver daggers against the necks of all the women, including the Luna queen. I was the only woman left who wasn't contained in the corner by the rogues.

Liam ordered the group. We all parted from Veronica, leaving her and two other girls that she was going to share this kill with. I licked my lips in anticipation. My beast wanted to laugh. How could we be intimidated by a female who couldn't even take down her own bear? It was funny. She wasn't worthy for our male. As much as she wanted to think she was good enough for him, my beast and I both knew she wasn't. Her mate would be at her level when she finally met him.

The baby ultimately died. The public was outraged. The woman said vehemently regaining her normal breathing rate as she hands Christine a sheet. This makes Christine embarrassed and timid after looking at herself and realizing all that time her body was bare. She helps Christine to climb down the horse. Christine hugs her so dearly. “Glad I met you.” She thanked her for playing a role as a mother. Unable to restrain her eyes from the woman’s, the woman helped Christine to cover her beauty. This, makes her even sink her eyes to the ground. “You don’t have to, I just believe you can make a change next time.” the woman comforted her.

The neighborhood lay in ruins, with rubble and dust drifting in the air. I furrowed my brows, my OCD pushing me to walk away. Just then, a hunched, filthy woman came in my way. She was wrapped in a filthy down jacket, its original color long buried beneath layers of grime. She clutched a handful of empty plastic bottles, her eyes vacant and glassy. “M-Ms. Bray?” She spoke, her voice raspy and scratchy. I stopped in my tracks and looked at her from a distance. It took a while for me to scan her bloated and wrinkly face before I recognized her to be the once arrogant Little Miss Sunshine.

The reviews began arriving on Thursday. Patricia Osei had told me to read them but not to organize my understanding of the book around them because the book had been written for the women in the long middle and the women in the long middle were not the reviewers. The reviewers were the first room the book passed through on its way to the people it was for. The first review I read was from a literary publication that described the book as unflinching and specific and written with the particular authority of someone who had lived inside the thing she was describing rather than observing it from outside.

"Well, that was fun..." he chuckled, telling me that he had called the initial carnage we endured. Those women had a mission, and they didn't care if I was the king or a pauper... they wanted answers and to be heard. After the meeting, I looked at Vamir. "We should read more pregnancy books..." I scratched the back of my head, and he laughed. "Most definitely," he laughed, and I sighed.

She did not want to add more to the list. She looked at Janice and cocked her head. "I would rather remain here." Janice chuckled and sat down beside Clarance. She had a knowing smile on her face. She knew what Clarance was thinking, and she agreed. Even the Russian princess had said as much. This secret society of women was just a bunch of shallow minded women cowering behind their rich husband's money. She popped another grape into her mouth, letting her mind drift as she looked around. Maybe it was time for a rebuild. She ouht to send all these women away and pick a fresh new batch of women. Women of Value...

I'd never met more dramatic yet detailed women. I don't think they cared much about the book they were reviewing. They all had a copy of it laying face down on their laps, but all they seemed to be able to talk about was… gossip. Very interesting gossip, in fact. I had no idea who Amelia Robinson was, but as I carried out a batch of freshly baked biscuits, I found myself lingering a little longer just so I could hear the reason why her third boyfriend in the last four months had run off again. The women guffawed at their own jokes. They were dramatic, but certainly not pretentious. Here, they let down their guards and simply enjoyed the feel of being with their ‘girls’.
