Emma gasped. “Traitor!” “You spilled the milk!” “You distracted me with your ugly face!” I pressed a hand against my forehead. “We moved into this house less than twenty-four hours ago,” I said slowly. “Please explain why it already looks like a natural disaster happened here.”

I said, "he could use the boost right about now." Emma thought about it. "Nah. I don't want him getting any wrong ideas." I looked at her, suspiciously. What exactly was a wrong idea at this party? Was that even a possible thing at this point? "You seriously don't know how two girls would fuck?" Ashley asked Kristen. Ashley seemed to have invented a new game that she and she alone could play called "make the na•ve super-Christian girl blush." Ashley was a champion at it. "No," Kristen protested, "they don't have the right...parts."

Quinn I sat in my favourite spot while I waited for Troy. In my open window, precariously balanced on the thin sill. I was suspended been life and death. To my left was the deadly drop down to the gardens below, and to my right the safety of my room. It was a stupid little game of chicken that I started to play when I was a teenager. I always wanted to see how far I could lean over, in the direction of death’s gaping maw, before fear forced me back to the safety of my room.

I looked into the room. The window was wide open, and the freezing wind rushed in. My niece's friends huddled by the bed, too scared to say a word. They were already in elementary school. How could they not know this was dangerous? My mate tried to reason with me. "Raven already admitted she was wrong. Honey, you've vented enough. Let's just bury the pup." I found it absurd. A life was gone, and all she had to do was say she was sorry?

His throat was tight. He said: "She wouldn't do that. Sloane wouldn't—" She said: "You don't know what she would do. You never did. You spent three years thinking you knew her and you were wrong about the most basic things." Her voice didn't change. Still even. Still calm. "You were wrong about how she would react. You were wrong about how long she would wait for you to come back. And you were wrong about what she was capable of when someone gave her a better option."

Everyone else came and congratulated us. "I still owe you a ring Millie Mouse since you stole my chance to propose," Hayden said. "Yeap, I win," I smirked. I didn't care about the ring or anything else. All I wanted was the guy of my dreams, and he was standing right in front of me. His pale blue eyes were gazing into mine.
