The Dual Claim
She missed clipping me by centimeters, not inches.
She rushed up in front of me, her fists grabbing at the front of my shirt.
“Sheesh,” I said, trying to appear nonchalant. “What’s got you so riled up?”
“I got a hit,” she whispered, looking up at me.
“No freaking way,” I said, gripping her elbows.
“Yes, way,” she replied, bouncing up on her tip-toes and slapping a quick kiss on my lips. “Can you believe it?”
She flounced away, riding the high of her scrying. I stared after her, waiting for her to turn back and realize she’d kissed me.
