Things are making sense, connecting in a way that they haven’t done before. But still, there are loose ends, and these loose ends are what I’m holding onto right now. “It just can’t be true.”

— Ylva — There are things that aren’t done. A single ant doesn’t run towards an elephant screaming blooding murder with the hope of toppling it over. That ant is going to get squashed, bad. This is a truth that no one would dispute. But for some reason, anything that has at least a little bit of human in them, seems to forget this fact quickly. It’s like we can’t accept our own position in the world, and keep wanting for more.

What a pathetic joke. They’d realize their mistake soon enough—some things are simply untouchable. Reaching for what doesn’t belong to them always comes with consequences.

I just want to hear her speak because her voice has a calming quality that makes everything seem better. "Things are not necessarily how they seem. Once the reality becomes clear so they lose their charm and beauty, if I know how you want me to describe it, I will do the same. Because once you realize the reality is far different from your perception, it leaves you with nothing... sometimes not even disappointment." There was a nagging feeling in my heart that something is amiss, but I tried to push it away. But now, her word forces me to think that my intuition might not be entirely wrong.

"Do you belong to any of these occultic sides?" Melinda smiled, but it was a cold and hard smile that sent a shiver down my spine. "That," she said, "is a different bababluish… But remember this: in this world, nothing is ever as it seems. The lines between good and evil are blurred, and it is up to us to choose which path we will follow."

It saved our asses more than once. The only thing is that shit only seems to show up when there's some sort of danger, never a harbinger of good.

“Things aren’t always what they seem.” I frowned, not sure what to make of his warning. But before I could ask him what he meant, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the shadows. I stood there for a moment, staring after him, my mind racing. Things weren’t always what they seemed. No kidding. If tonight had taught me anything, it was that nothing in my life made sense anymore. With a sigh, I turned and headed home, my thoughts still spinning. I fucking hate my new life.

They locked the door and pushed me to the sink sitting me down on the counter that was made of black marbles. "You look like sh*t." Queen was the first one to break the silence. "What is that supposed to mean?" She took my shoulders twisting them to the Mirror. I now know what they mean that some people die when looking at the mirror, not because of their good looks but because they simply look like the twin of dog sh*t.

We all like things to be predictable. We expect things to be safe and to keep on happening just the way they always have. We expect the sun to rise in the morning. We expect to get up, survive the day and finish up back in bed at the end of it, ready to start all over again the next day. But maybe that's just a trick we play on ourselves, our way of making life seem ordinary. Because the truth is, life is so extraordinary that for most of the time, we can't bring ourselves to look at it. It's too bright, and it hurts our eyes. The fact of the matter is that nothing is ever certain. But most people never find that out until the ground suddenly disappears from beneath their feet.
