"I said... BOW." Adrian's loud voice vibrated around me. I held in a groan. My body wanted to go down. I wanted my knees to hit the ground and my forehead to touch the ground. He was my King, and I had to obey his order. I wanted to obey his order, wanted to please him.

She couldn't speak for fear that her voice would betray her and she'd break down crying. “Is this why you're leaving your mom over such a trivial matter?” Maria asked loudly, “If you'd just listen and come home to discuss things, would your mom need to go through this?” There it was again, the expectation to obey... “And look at you, making a mountain out of a molehill. We'll compensate your grandmother. As long as her demands aren't outrageous, we'll pay,” Crystal’s mom said sternly, “Don't act as if we're out to get you and take it out on your mom! How could you?”

He chuckled, “Now, I understand. You think I won’t do it, right? You think I won’t blow your brains?” I swallowed hard, trying to calm my beating chest. Fear was an understatement of how I was feeling now, and the last thing I wanted was to make him angrier than he already was. “I’ve been obedient. You can’t deny that.” I said, my voice barely a whisper. “You have? Tell me then, is there one single thing I have ordered, and you obeyed?” “My body.” I muttered. He scrunched his face in confusion. “And what about your body?”

I'll teach her,' Theo says right away, and although I wasn't that good with reading their emotion, I could tell that Theo wasn't that happy. 'I'll teach her,' Milo says sounding less angry, but he too wanted to be the one teaching me. "You two are too soft and are her wolves, it'll take her forever to learn anything around you," Alpha Jayden says in a final word, and I didn't get why we had to obey him. 'Being the alpha means we have to obey him,' Milo says. "But you're the alpha too," I say out loud, he's the alpha too, why does he have to obey him too?

“Good boy.” I can fully attest that obedience doesn’t taste like surrender. It tastes like peace.

He leaned forward, so close that I could feel his breath on my cheek and whispered; “I need you to agree to obey me. To follow commands as and when I say so. I need your compliance. Understand?” I shivered, the sparks once again catching me off guard and disgusting me to the core. “I-I understand.”

I spat, every word torn raw from me. His grip tightened, fingers digging into me hard enough to bruise. The air around us seemed to shrink, heavy, suffocating. “I only have one rule, Isa. One.” His voice dropped lower, intimate and lethal. “Why is it so hard for you to follow? Obey me, and everything will be fine.” The scream inside me clawed for release, but I swallowed it down, my chest heaving. “I’ll obey,” I forced out, each syllable jagged and bitter, “but only if you let go of my Liliana.”

“I have just three rules, none which you can break because you'll be punished if you try it.” His words felt like ice sliding into my ears. He lowered one finger. “One, you belong to me until I let you go. You will obey me without asking questions. When I speak, you listen and do it. No running, I'll track you down and drag you back here if you ever try to run away and no defiance.” Of course, falling into that poisoned bamboo was enough humiliation. My face reddened from embarrassment, but I curled my trembling hand into a fists, forcing my eyes to be on him.

And I do not allow what is mine to be damaged. Rule #3: Honesty is required. Obedience is learned. You are not expected to obey me immediately. You are expected to be truthful. If you are afraid, you will say it. If you are angry, you will say it. If you feel unsafe, you will say it. Silence creates mistakes, and mistakes create consequences. Rule #4: You will not run. Not because I would enjoy stopping you, but because there are things beyond my territory that would not return you alive.
