Thomas rode at the head of the procession, dressed in a deep sky-blue tunic embroidered with mythical beasts. A black-and-white fox fur cloak draped over his shoulders. His tanned skin carried a certain boldness, different from the fair complexions of other noble sons in the capital. The contrast made his sharp features even more striking. His eyes were steady, his purpose clear. Behind him rode a group of young men from his family, while Alice and Opal, along with a few other ladies of the household, sat comfortably in the carriage.

His voice outed his smile and this time I turned around to face him. “You saw?” It was all I could manage for my odd behavior. “Don’t worry, I am not judging you,” he smirked, lifting his palms up. “Come with me, you need to get some fresh warm clothes.” Thomas led me into the garage and as I followed him, I inspected his dirty clothes. He wore one of those well-known overalls in dark blue with white stripes. It was strange to see him in something so different from what I was used to. The dark stains all over him did not dim his attractive and charming looks.

“Good morning, beautiful.” Natasha’s eyes widened immediately. The words caught her completely off guard. Aaron said it so naturally too, like it was the simplest thing in the world. A faint heat spread across Natasha’s cheeks before she could stop it. She smiled softly and stepped aside. “Good morning.” Aaron walked inside. He was dressed in a perfectly tailored gray suit that fit him almost too well. Even after the collapse of civilization, Aaron still carried himself like the world had never truly fallen apart. In one hand, he carried several shopping bags. Beside him were two medium-sized suitcases. The apartment instantly felt smaller with him inside it.
