Daniel stood in the doorway of the living room and listened and thought: this is also what was given. End of Chapter One Hundred and Thirty-One

The lock accepted it immediately. A quiet click echoed through the corridor. Nobody breathed. Then Kieran placed his hand on the handle. And for the first time in nearly three decades, Arthur Blackthorne's hidden door began to open. The handle resisted at first. Only slightly. The kind of resistance old metal developed after years without movement. Kieran tightened his grip and pushed again. This time the door shifted inward with a long groan that echoed through the corridor and disappeared into the darkness beyond. Nobody moved. The sound alone seemed to hold us in place.

I really need to see him. She shook her head fast, hugging her cleaning tray to her chest. Absolutely no one goes to see him unless he calls for you himself. I cleared my dry throat, feeling a little awkward. Oh. Well, I am brand new here. He actually did summon me. Her shaking hand slowly raised in the air. She pointed a frightened finger straight down the long hallway. At the very end stood a massive door made entirely of bright, shining gold. Three large, scary wolves were carved deep into the expensive metal. The door was so incredibly huge it almost looked like a city gate.

The Third Trial The door opened. Slowly. Reluctantly. As if it had remained sealed for so long that reality itself resisted its movement. BOOOOOOOOM! Golden light poured from the darkness beyond. The Hall of Guardians shook violently. Ancient names carved into the walls began glowing. Thousands. Millions. An endless sea of sacrifices illuminating the chamber. God. No. Fair. Absolutely not. Reasonable honestly. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. Because something waited beyond the doorway.

Then every lantern in the chamber suddenly swung in the same direction. Toward the brilliant golden arch. A deep voice echoed from beyond the light. Older than the mountain. Older than memory itself. "The Tenth Door is opening."

They plunged deeper into the forest, their hearts pounding with fear. As they ran, the hum grew louder until it was almost deafening. The air grew thick with electricity, and the mist grew thicker still. Suddenly, Ava stopped again, her eyes fixed on something ahead. Eddie and Millie followed her gaze, and their hearts skipped a beat. In front of them stood a massive stone door adorned with intricate carvings of twisted vines and leaves. The door was covered in symbols that seemed to pulse with a dark energy. Ava's eyes locked onto theirs. "This is the only way out," she said. "We have to go through this door."

Amory had me measure the small room to the side of the garage door before we left the colonial. The next place we stopped at was the shop, which is currently closed. However, Amory goes to the back door and places her hand down on a scanner. Like the safe in her closet, it illuminates and beeps while blinking red three times before it turns green. The back door clicks open! She opens the door and an alarm blares loudly. Amory opens the panel to the side of the door, types her birth date in, and the alarm silences.
