Sprinted to the door, I pulled it open, not expecting it to open, but it did, causing my heart to swell in joy. Ambling to the shelf, my eyes darted round the various book covers. Fiction was my favorite book to read because the best thing about reading was to be able to escape from your life, to be able to read hundreds or even thousands of other lives. Non-fiction does not have that power, it does not change you the way fiction does. To me, if you are not affected somehow, even if it is the slightest change, you are not reading the right book. I would love to think that every novel I have read has become a part of me and created who I am in a sense.

It has never been my goal to impress my sister with anything I do. I scroll through the books in the library until I come to my favourite section, Mystery. I always love the thrill that comes with not knowing what's going to happen next. You can make it more interesting for yourself if you start to wonder what is happening and what will happen. I take a few glances through the books on the shelves and take a book that looks the most interesting out of all the books I saw. 'In the Woods' by Tana French.

I smiled, pointing to one with a black wolf staring out with red eyes. “I prefer none. They aren't real.” Ryan drawled. “It's why they're called Fantasy,” I rolled my eyes, “what do you read then? Only non fiction?” “Nah. I read both. But I prefer Thrillers and action. You know, martial arts and gun shooting.” He turned to me with two fingers aimed at my neck, “pew pew.” I laughed, “Right. Bad guy kills good guys family and good guy goes after bad guys and single handedly kills ‘em all.” I groaned.

Four “So, what’s the genre we’re looking at?” Nico picked up one of the books on the desk and flipped it to the back, reading the short description. “This one seems to be about magical powers and shit. Fantasy?” Theo nodded, taking a sip of his wine. He set down his glass and picked up a book from the pile. “I have romance, crime thrillers and fantasy, here.” He handed him a book. “What do you think about this?”

Avery and Gio were in their bedroom. I made myself a cup of coffee, locking myself inside the library and searching for a book that would satisfy my craving. I came across a novel titled 'The Black Dahlia' by James Ellroy. The title was quite interesting, so I grabbed the book and sat on one of the armchairs, making myself comfortable and beginning to read. The story was intense. I was sucked into it. i was so invested in the crime fiction book that I almost missed the sound of a knock coming from the door. I used my pen to keep track of the page number, before looking up to see who the hell interrupted my moment with the book.

“Is there a pattern between them?” “It's fucking brutal,” Rafael admitted exhaustedly, tapping down against the whiteboard to indicate his case notes. “It seems that a serial killer is on the loose. He kidnaps the girls, rapes them and then tortures them to death.” I jolted backwards, mortified at this revelation. “What a bastard,” Zayn gritted through clenched teeth, balling his hands into fists, his veins pulsating their way to the surface of his skin alarmingly as his blood began to boil.

Some of them read multiple times judging by the cracking of the binding. History. Military strategy. Economics. Law. Psychology. Philosophy. One entire shelf of biographies of powerful men across different centuries and continents. And then something that surprised me. Fiction. A whole section of it tucked into the far corner like something private. Novels. Some of them old enough that the titles had faded. I pulled one out carefully. A Russian novel. Thick. Dense. The kind of book that required patience and silence and the willingness to sit inside discomfort for extended periods.

"Are you serious? That is literally my favorite genre! I write short stories sometimes, and they are always packed with completely unhinged mafia bosses and crazy plot twists." "You write?" Clara gasped, genuinely excited. "You have to let me read some of your stuff. Real life in this pack is stressful enough. I love reading things that let me escape reality for a few hours." "Exactly!" Nora agreed passionately. "When I read a good thriller, I don't have to worry about Lycan Kings or border patrols. I just get to worry about fictional people surviving crazy situations." For the next two hours, the grand library echoed with genuine laughter.

On the body of the case was a little note: FIGURED YOU’D LIKE THESE -X. My curiosity heightened as I tore open the case, and I gasped once I saw what was inside. Books- novels to be precise, all stacked neatly in the case. As I glanced through their titles, I noticed they were thrillers and horror genres, a bit of romance too. My toes curled in excitement and a grin spread across my face as I looked through all of them. I rolled my eyes. Of course, he’d figured I’d like them; he always figured everything about me.

" I don’t turn a person into a bookworm. You should give it a try. Reading is fun. " His fingers slid through the spines of the book. "Will you let me borrow your books?" Yes, yes. Just take care of them. " I don’t usually lend books to other people. He’s a friend, and he saved me from death. Lending him a book every week or so was not a huge distraction. "I suggest a thriller book for beginners and guys like you." "Are they good?" "They were fantastic." I walked toward him and picked up a book for him to take to his place. I chose a third-person point of view for my domestic thriller. The one that crept up on me one time. "Try this."
