“Right now, let’s just enjoy the moment and feel alive. That’s all that matters.” To make my point, I picked up another glass, raised it briefly in her direction, then threw it back, gulping the shot in one go. The burn seared down my throat, familiar, almost comforting. What I didn’t expect was what came next. Lauren’s hand darted forward, quick and decisive this time, and she took not one, but three shots in rapid succession. The third, fourth, and fifth glasses were emptied in less than a minute, each one leaving her cheeks redder, her eyes brighter, her lips curved in a smile that was equal parts mischievous and dangerous.

My teeth were tightly shut, my temples throbbing. “Do you have any idea…” She took a deep, shaky breath, trembling, holding back her tears with more strength than her body seemed capable of — “…how much is Lauren going to get attached?”

"What's going on man? Is everything okay?' I type into my phone in frustration. I wait a few minutes but the text remains unread. Like the rest. Asher is one of Vaughan's guys who has always been in charge of watching Lauren and monitoring her movements as per ordered by Vaughan himself. She is in one of his safe houses here in New York and isn't allowed to step a foot outside till I'm done with this assignment. Trent's face paled, and he stammered, "Yeah, Miss Thelia. I put the entire content of the vial in Asher's drink, just as you told me to." Thelia's lips curled into a snarl, and she released him with a huff of frustration. She turned on her heel, her mind racing. Where could Asher be? The aphrodisiac should have taken effect by now. The mere thought of him being with someone else made her blood boil with jealousy and rage.

He had to take a few deep breaths for him to calm down. "Have fun." Eliphas blinked at him and left the room. Ashton looked at him and chided him for being so shameless and went over to the table to carry the sleeping Maya. She had just made her first shift and it was an exhausting process. Although she was now a complete werewolf and could recover her strength in a snap, it was still her first and it was perfectly normal for her to be exhausted. Standing up, Ashton realized that he was not drunk at all. Even his mind seemed more clear than before.

"And when we are out, Cassius, try to remember a simple 'thank you.' It goes a long way." He leaned back, the movement surprisingly fluid despite the chains, a genuine laugh escaping him—a sound rich and resonant, chasing some of the shadows from the oppressive chamber. "Always the last word, Thalia?" A smirk played on my own lips. "A recent, and rather satisfying, development." Our laughter mingled, a fragile but defiant sound against the ancient silence.

Nathan replied, "I did intervene. Rhea's preparing for a divorce. She has to handle this herself. If I force it, it might backfire." Arthur understood. "How can the daughter of the Ravelle family endure mistreatment from such a dishonorable woman?" "Who?" Arthur's fury finally erupted. "Lauren Thayer!" After saying that, he hung up in anger. … That afternoon, while Lauren was undergoing her checkup, she intentionally sent Peter out to buy some food. Only when the results were ready did she reappear. "Where did you go?" Peter asked, having looked for her everywhere. "I went to the restroom to throw up. I felt terrible just now," Lauren replied.

Finally, Ashley, all dressed up and looking amazing, was ready for the night that would always be special because of her engagement to Thorian. In the quiet confines of her room, Thalia paced anxiously, the air thick with her restless energy. Biting her fingers, she couldn’t shake the unsettling feeling that something significant was slipping away. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, shaking her head as if trying to dispel unwelcome thoughts.
