Maybe it is the kind of cold that settles inside a person and then makes a home there. I stand by the window, the glass cool under my fingertips. The vines that used to creep along the frame and block half my view are gone. Cut clean. It almost looks like the way it was before, the way I used to like it. A strange reminder that even things that grow without permission can be erased if someone decides they should not be there. I press my forehead lightly against the glass. The chill seeps into my skin, and for a second it feels good, like it pushes back the warmth rising behind my eyes. My reflection stares back at me.

I zipped it all the way up to my chin, wrapping the extra fabric tightly around my waist to shield my stomach from the damp air outside. I walked quickly toward the single window at the back of the room. It looked out over the dark, quiet garden behind our house, far away from the front driveway. I turned the stiff brass latch and pushed the heavy glass pane upward. The cold night wind blew straight into my face, making my eyes water and chilling the nervous sweat on my forehead. It was a steep drop down to the wet ground below, high enough to break an ankle or worse. But right next to the brick wall, a thick branch from the old oak tree reached out, stopping just a few feet short of my wind

No explanation. I lean back, trying to shake it off, but my eyes drift toward the window. A chill races up my spine. Standing up slowly, I walk over, each step heavier than the last. And then I see it. “What the actual fuck?” My hands tremble as I reach for my phone, my fingers fumbling over the screen until I hit his name. “Hey babes,” Justin mumbles casually, his voice dripping with nonchalance. “Justin, can you come over? There’s a weird fucking heart drawn on my window—outside!” My voice pitches, panic creeping in despite my efforts to sound calm.

Not like this. Not with— I reached the back corner, and saw it. One window with the curtains wide open. It was our bedroom window and although the glass was locked shut, I could see through it and probably call someone that might be passing. Light spilled outward, cutting through the rain as I stepped closer and looked gazed insides I was made to freeze. At first, I didn’t understand what I was staring at as I saw movement but then I blinked and it became clear with the sharp sting in my chest.

That door is sealed shut. That thought follows me into sleep. The quiet feels peaceful—until it isn’t. I see Lucien standing outside my window. My breath catches. His eyes pierce straight through me, like he’s pulling apart every wall I built, knot by knot. He steps closer, and my heart drops in horror when he passes through the glass as if it isn’t even there. It doesn’t break. It doesn’t make a sound. His eyes never leave mine, not even for a second.

I saw him, through smoked glass, unlocking the door. I scurried across a patch of young grass and sat down beneath one of the windows that faced into the square. I thought it was a kitchen window, for no better reason than its proximity to a large waste pipe, which could have meant nothing. I waited for a light to illuminate some of the grass, but when it did, it was at the side of the house and I had to creep round. There was a tiny crack between the window frame and the blind if I was very, very careful, I could just fit my eye in that space and take a look.

Oh yess the window ! I went near the window fastly opening the curtains .I trys to open them but it's locked. I tried one more time, still jammed, in its place . Out of frustration I punched the window which resulted in my own painful fist ,damn it's hurting like bitch. And I am holding my throbbing fist with my other hand doing some kind of panda dance jumping on one leg to other in hope to reduce the pain. During my jump my eyes went towards the window again this time I noticed the outside surrounding and got shocked ,I was so busy in opening the window that I didn't notice the outside world.it feels like I am on some kind of hill because I can see the lake far from here.

My hand drags down my stomach, nails grazing skin, and the moment I let the lace slip lower, I swear I hear something outside my window. I glance toward it curtains drawn, but the streetlight spilling a faint glow through the gap. Another message. I’m closer than you think.

Rookie fucking mistake, I should have examined the window with more caution. Aside from finding another trap, I did learn the windows are made out of something similar to a two-way mirror or tinted windows. I can just make out my reflection in the glass, but I can’t see through it, yet I can see the light of this supposed lightning flashing inside. Iolaire walks up to me, “Find anything?” She quietly asks. “Razor blades,” I deadpan.
