He was gone. I looked at the sky seeing it had strangely become dark followed by an odd thunderstorm. "No," I cried. I quickly put on my clothes and ran to where his pack was, not wanting to believe that the lightning was taking them back to where they belonged. As I arrived at his pack. I saw all werewolves vanishing by lightning. I spun around looking, terrified. "Red," I heard Cali running to me. "The lightning took him," I cried for Alpha Deucalion.

The leader of the largest pack, a massive grey wolf named Thunder, stepped forward and spoke. "We mean you no harm," he said. "We are on a journey, a great migration. We seek only food and shelter for our families, and we do not wish to fight." Shadow was taken aback by Thunder's words. He had never encountered a wolf who spoke like this before. He decided to hear him out. Thunder explained that his pack was traveling southward, following the herds of caribou and elk. They had been forced to leave their own territory due to a devastating fire that had destroyed their homes and food sources.

Her big eyes filled with worry. “I have to go,” I told her gently. “Thunder Pack just entered Cloud Pack territory.” Her eyes got even bigger. She knew that name. Every wolf knew it. Thunder Pack was ruled by the fierce Alpha Jackson Black. For centuries, our packs had been enemies. We fought over land. Blood was spilled. Many brave wolves died on both sides. They never crossed borders unless they wanted war. My hands turned into tight fists. If they came to attack one of the pack in the Crescent Brotherhood, they picked the wrong night. Just today, my father’s fingers moved for the first time in three years. That small sign gave me hope, and no one was going to ruin it.
