Time trickled by, each second an eternity.
My vision grew blurrier, the world distorting before my eyes.
My breathing grew weaker, the rise and fall of my chest nearly ceasing.
The warmth was leaving my body, like a dying fire in winter, leaving only cold ash.
I could feel my life force slipping away, starting from my fingertips.
First my fingers, then my hands, then my arms…
Like a receding tide, pulling me out into the deep.
