“It’s me. I’ve been trying to reach you, Ella. Do you remember what I told you? I promised I would show up to save you when you needed me to."
“You’re the man from the other time,” I breathed, staring at him as if he were a phantom. He had bumped into me and slipped his phone number in my clothes at that resort.
“Yes,” he said with a heavy, weary sigh. He looked at my bloodied feet and the oversized, mud-stained lab coat.
“I’m sorry I had to let it get to this. I’m so sorry.”
I shook my head, my mind a fractured mess. I didn't know who to trust, but the sterile walls of the clinic were behind me, and the man in front of me had just fought off Antonio's wolves.
