Tobias didn't argue this time. He just nodded, stepped over to the cabinet, and pulled out a fresh sheet of parchment and a vial of ink. He set them on the desk, his movements quiet and deliberate.
He didn't offer any more advice, and for that, I was grateful. I didn't want advice. I wanted a miracle.
"Give me the room," I said, my voice dropping to a low, dangerous whisper.
Tobias bowed slightly and walked out, the heavy oak door clicking shut behind him. The silence that followed was even worse than the shouting.
