Theo’s POV The coming days are quiet and filled with contented home life. Lilith trains with Theseus daily, and Khai stays around the pack house instead of sitting in the trees on the no man’s land between Damian’s pack and mine. I tend to do business and then get the best of both worlds, returning to spending time with Lilith and Khai. And then we have Tobias. He’s a sweet little boy. He is helpful and enthusiastic but also so talented that when he decides to play tricks on you, you can’t help but fall for them.

As soon as Andrius’ words fell, Tobias became furious. His right foot stomped on the ground, the powerful inner energy creating a small crater in the marble floor. He pounced like a ferocious tiger, instantly appearing in front of Andrius. Andrius stood without moving and stared at Tobias’ infuriated and rapidly approaching figure. Bam! Crack! Snap! The next moment, they exchanged blows. As the First Elder of the Martial Emperor, Tobias was a bona fide Martial Emperor. Although he was only in the early stage, he had earned every hint of his strength.

Adopt me? Tobias reached out and ran a hand through Emorie’s red curls, “You’re at it again, Em.” His bright blue stare slid to mine, a smile taking over his face. “Hello, new kid. My name’s Tobias.” He held out a hand for me to take, and I did. “Don’t let his modesty fool you, Tobias is the beta heir to the Bronxe Wolves Pack.” My eyebrows lifted in surprise. If I remembered correctly, Emorie had introduced Valtor as the Alpha heir to that same pack.

Dare’s face shifts to a more serious one now, his dark eyes, which are literally black, tilt down, avoiding me, as he scratches his stubble. “Yea, okay. Who is it?” I sit up a little and grab a pen to add their names to my existing list. “First, Tobias is going.” “Toby! Oh, shit! That’s awesome. He and Aurelian are such a fun time. I didn’t think he’d be looking for a mate given his…situation,” I say confusedly as I jot his name down. “He’s not looking for a mate. He’s just helping oversee our pack members since I’m tied up on diaper duty.”

Since Dad had passed his title to me, his aura wasn’t as strong as it had been. “You did always think you were better than me,” Tobias smirked. “You and Damien, and his abomination of a mate,” he spat. “Mated to a witch,” he grumbled, glaring at the ground. “Disgusting. Wolves should only be mated to wolves. That is the way it should be,” he snarled, looking back up towards my dad. “Funny you should say that,” my dad said, cocking his head to the side. Tobias growled, but before my dad could continue, Tobias’s eyes glazed over for a moment, then his head whipped towards the trees, his eyes widening.

“What can I say? The man has a type.” “What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean?” I heard dad growl from across the room. “Well, you know they were a thing back in the day,” Tobias said. “The guy has a thing for…extremely, and I mean extremely powerful women. There are only two that he knows of in this world.” He looked at me, “Your mom…and you. Mind you, I believe that if he could he would take you both and just…” he grimaced and shivered in repulsion.

I gulped, and there was a lump that suddenly formed in my throat as soon as they said that. Tobias was already a hybrid—a werewolf and a vampire. No matter how powerful that creature could’ve been, if that was the case, he could be killed with both wooden stake and silver. “Where did you stab him?” I asked, my heart almost falling out of my chest.

And Olivia is right on time, “Tobias. What happened to you?” She rushes in like a wind and so does Theo and asks, “What happened?” “Toby is… he is…” I say but stop and start sobbing. Olivia comes towards me and shakes my shoulder and asks, “Tell me. Why isn’t he speaking up? What happened? Why is he so gloomy? What is wrong with him?” “Toby has a tumor in his brain.” I sob that out. “What?” Theo asks while Toby tries to maintain his shock of my words too.

“Very pleasing to the eye too.” “Watch it werebear,” I say half joking but with a low warning growl. “I may not have claimed her, but she is still my mate.” Tobias throws his hands up in the air in a defensive gesture and chuckles, “Hey I was just saying, didn’t mean anything by it. At least not too much.” He drops his hands but proceeds to run one hand through his dark brown hair in frustration. “Seriously man, I love to give you shit but what's the deal with your mate, why haven't you claimed her yet? Is it because of Jonda?”

That is a talent I wish to master. His face is turning purple as he is gasping for air. Tobias knows how to play with someone’s life without actually taking it. He is the King. But he brings Talon right to the brink of death before bringing the life back to his body just to start it all over again. Letting him finally catch his break through gagging and choking on his own blood. “I like this toy very much, Lucien. I’ll need about three for my own dungeons.” Tobias smirks, but doesn’t remove his eyes from Talon. The menacing stare Tobias is giving Talon could kill anyone.
