Two of the rebels step forward to grab me. The last thing they see is the pavement, as Caleb lands on them, smashing their faces down to the ground. Caleb is in his werewolf form, massive and deadly. Standing in front of me, he’s ready to protect me. The three remaining rebels take an unsteady step backwards and glance at each other. Yet, just when I think they might run, they make a coordinated attack, jumping forward together. Caleb, furious as he is, lashes out in one large sweep, knocking all of the rebels clean off their feet. When he struts forward to finish them off, I dash toward him and grab one of his massive arms with mine.

Gabriel clenched his jaw until the veins in his neck stretched noticeably. His green eyes turned even brighter as his wolf side began to surface. "Relax, Adler" Alex warned in a threatening voice. "Don't forget you're in my territory right now."

Caleb argued, his voice calm and rational. “What do you want me to say? Because you don't expect me to believe she actually saw a werewolf!! That's just insane,” Anna retorted, her voice rising in frustration. “I know, I know...but she doesn't seem like someone who was lying. Maybe, just maybe, she saw a creature that matches her description,” Caleb said, his tone thoughtful. “Don't tell me you are believing this fairytale nonsense. What next, vampires? Come on!” Anna exclaimed, cutting him short and staring at him with a disappointed look.

The red haired girl stepped up and watched as the wolf ran away again "Even as a werewolf you're still weird" a vein appearing on her forehead as she began the chase again.

Her pendant—two wolfsbane branches circling opposed helms—snapped and skittered across the gravel, spinning to a stop in a coppery smear. They dragged. She changed. The growl rose first—wet, subterranean—before the body followed. Bones unzipped and reset; sinew braided and surged; fur erupted through skin. In a breath, where Sara had been, a towering brown werewolf stood, eyes molten gold. Her left arm tore free. The blond didn’t even scream as her claws opened him face to gut, a red curtain dropping in one stroke. “The—fuck—RUN!” the big one choked. Three bolted, boots collapsing into slapstick panic. She didn’t chase.

" And with no warning at all, Caleb transformed into his werewolf form, the change quicker, smoother than Lucas had ever witnessed from anyone. The battle was intense; each blow from Caleb was hazy with unnatural power. Lucas felt the rogue energy buzzing in Caleb and saw it also in the way

She’s a child, and hurting children is my no-go rule. A rule I know Caleb follows too. He had a kid before he was turned, so he has a soft spot on that subject. So I wasn’t surprised that after hearing that a child was involved, he was down to help. And for as much drama as Byron brings to the table, his gift will help take on this hybrid werewolf-witch.
