I look to the guards, “Where the hell is the van and SUV?!” Jaxon is kneeling beside me with Tobias, and he is taking short breaths. A young woman from the pack comes running up to us. “TOBIAS!” she screamed. “What’s wrong with him?” “Stabbed with wolfbane tipped silver knife.” Jaxon said.

Tobias's POV Oscar feints toward my left shoulder before sweeping a kick toward my ankle. I catch the move at the last second, barely managing to brace myself, but I’m off balance. His strikes are lightning-fast, a pair of punches to my knee, followed by a sharp kick to my other leg. Damn. His movements are calculated, giving nothing away until the instant he strikes. He takes me to the ground, and we grapple, both straining for the upper hand. Eventually, I manage to pin him, my forearm pressed against his windpipe, my knee trapping his arm and legs. He struggles, bucking to break free, but his energy has waned just enough to give me the advantage.
