I picked up my water glass and took a long drink, letting the cool liquid soothe my suddenly dry throat. Tobias was quiet for a few minutes. He pushed his rice around his plate, seemingly absorbed in his own thoughts. Then, without looking up, he tapped his metal fork against the edge of his ceramic bowl. “Just out of curiosity,” Tobias said, his voice dropping the teasing tone and becoming perfectly casual. I swallowed the water and looked at him. “What?” Tobias finally looked up, his eyes locking onto mine with terrifying accuracy. “Does the guy you absolutely will not talk about play for the university team?”

“ I am not looking for anyone, Lady Biz. Greg and I already fixed a date.” Lady Biz hands over the drink to the customer before leaning closer. “ I don’t know but I don’t think anyone has ever bothered telling you this., Gregson is one hell of a boring personality. He is always talking about climate change, furniture and business. How is he able to set this gorgeous body on fire? How is he able to make this sexy body go crazy for him with all his priest like talks?” She asked, her eyes dropping low to scrutinize my body. “ Come on, Lady Biz! I am learning to love him!”

My nods thinking about what he has said.

Tobias huffed and tilted his head. “You are True Mates?” he questioned. “Yes” Gunner said firmly. What is up with him? “We are, yes” I confirmed again, glaring up at Gunner’s hard stare. “Incredible” he exclaimed, “You two are truly remarkable. It is an honour to serve beside you both” he put his hand on his chest and bowed his head. He lifted his eyes and smiled at me through his thick dark lashes. A breath caught in my throat and I pressed back into Gunner's chest. Tobias is seriously handsome. Gunner’s fingertips dug into my hips and I hissed.

I was ready to retreat when my name caught my attention. “Caleb is a prime example of how strong the offspring of fated mates can be,” Tobias said in his reedy voice. He wasn’t a powerful wolf, and the herbs he used to access his powers of divination weakened him, but he was invaluable to the pack. Some wolves could wield magic, but Tobias pushed his ability past the natural order in service to Moon Edge. His foresight anticipated threats from wolf packs and other shifters who sought to take our land.

Rosie smiles at him and shakes her head, “It’s been so long since I lost him, over a hundred years ago now, it’s still painful some days. But it’s nice to talk about him. Lottie finds it dull now. She knew him too, of course, being my twin sister. But she tires of my talking of him.” Greyson nods and leans into Seb’s shoulder. “Tobias was a beautiful man, a human. He had long, blonde, curly hair and wore those flowy poet shirts and tight trousers. He was a woman’s man.” Greyson smiles, “Ooh, a dreamboat.” Seb smacks him in the arm and he giggles, Rosie nods wistfully,

It seemed as if his son had come back after the traumatic event where his mother attempted to teach him how to shoot, leading to him shooting one of their captors. “Nothing will change my mind! Don’t bother wasting your time on me!” Tobias was taken aback by his boldness, then his gaze shifted to Connor as he stepped forward. “So, it seems the rumors are true!” A dark chuckle escaped from him. He approached Connor, and Sebastian’s gaze followed him. “It’s all because of his bitch of a daughter, isn’t it?” he raised an eyebrow.

“Wanna come?” I glance down at my cropped tank and jean shorts combo with a frown. “Eh, I’m not sure if I’m really dressed for that…” “You look great,” Tobias assures me without missing a beat, his eyes traversing my form, lingering on my bare legs and the strip of exposed skin at my midsection. “It’s casual anyways, just a kegger in the woods.” As if he has to talk me into it.

Caspian sighs, “Tobias paid frequent visits to Gabrielle and supported her financially, especially after the birth of their daughter. I became curious and asked Sir Leonard. Tobias cut me off then, saying he and Gabrielle were friends and that he was supporting her to ensure she didn’t fall into another trap of having illegitimate children with different men.” My lips quiver. Tobias told me he didn’t like Dora, that he never had female friends except those for political reasons. So what is he doing with Gabrielle?
