Tomorrow When The War Began Novels & Stories

Severiel watches the ripple with quiet interest. “Ah,” he murmurs. “It has chosen to hurry.” Matteo looks at me. “Okay,” he says. “We are officially out of time.” I nod once. Decision made. “We move now.” The war is no longer coming. It’s already begun.

If it would take war to keep what he had gotten, he'd do it. Tomorrow came war. And today, he was already prepared. A Mito crawled outside the building. The End.

Clyde let out a slow, cruel laugh. “Yeah,” he said. “That would be Valencia.” Alaric’s eyes snapped up. Clyde leaned closer. “Fireworks are beautiful this time of night.” The war had officially begun.

That was the first time— “Sir,” a man said behind me called out, and I wanted to punch myself in the face for thinking of such a thing now. “They’re waiting for your next order.” He added, sensing my irritation. I didn’t hesitate. “Tell them,” I said quietly, “the war has officially begun.” And somewhere far from the base, behind locked gates and watching eyes, the woman who didn’t yet understand the scope of what was coming was being placed exactly where I could still protect her.

But whatever it is, the war has started.”

Then—outside, far off—another boom shook the walls. Karl and Lucy locked eyes. “We may not have until dawn,” she whispered. Karl straightened, the commander returning in full. “Then we move now.” He offered his hand. Lucy took it. And the war truly began.

Fire bloomed on the far side of the docks, screams echoing as men scattered. “Now,” Mateo growled. They moved, guns raised, slipping into the chaos as Ricardo’s men scrambled to contain the flames. Bullets cracked. Shouts rose. Smoke curled across the piers. The war had begun.

“We’re ready.” I nodded, my chest tightening. “Yeah.” The full moon would rise in less than four hours. And by then— The war would have already begun.
