I knew that body and those hazel eyes from anywhere. I tried to walk to her but the senator appeared and grabbed my arm. “Markos, I’m glad you came,” he said as he pulled me into an unwanted hug. I had to go to hios party to show him he and I were still partners. To rule the black world of New York, you need law enforcement and a few politicians. The senator was among those on my payroll and I couldn’t fuck it up because he would screw everything about me. There was a reason they always wound up dead after they retired. They always got big heads and ewuallty big mouths.

Ken stood before a pacing Harry in the living room of the cabin. As a frat house it was simple, rustic with minimal furniture. "Calm down, bro." Ken said, causing him to pause. "That bastard is not taking me seriously." He shouted. "Does he think I'm joking?" "No. But it's just his way to assert his power. You are still the one in power. You have the leverage, so calm down." Hearing that, Harry sank down on a chair. Ken followed suit as Harry called Donovan who picked up after the second ring. This delay also infuriated Harry. Donovan should be desperate, calling him all the time.

Nico eyes me skeptically and stands up. “All this shit aside, I've got news.” The seriousness in his voice makes me look up at him. “Tony wants a meeting with you.” He said with a grim voice. Tony was my fathers right hand man. Never liked that guy so as soon as dad was gone I got rid of him too. Which he didn’t like too well along with many older members. He always stood in the way of anything revolutionary I brought forward. Still to this day he brings a lot of shit into my working pattern. Gathering votes of other members and simply being a pain in my ass

“You’re difficult to understand. And I never did meet a woman who stood out the way you did.” I looked down, fingers tracing the rim of my glass. “And what about you?” “What about me?” “What did you want, Nolan? Before the weight of a crown and a pack?” He hesitated. I could see it, the flicker of something behind his eyes, the ghost of a younger man he used to be. “I never really had the luxury of wanting,” he said. “From the moment I shifted, everything was duty. The Alpha’s seat was mine before I could even decide what kind of man I wanted to be.”

He smiled at me putting me at ease with a gentle nod. Evelyn started asking questions about that night. He was put through the ringer with them, but he never took his eyes off of me until Gideon stood. I watched him shift in his seat and I could see him visibly tense. He really didn’t like Gideon. I remembered all the things he told me about him. I saw him tense his jaw; a vein popped out on the side of his neck.

I told Nino harshly. Truth was, I wasn’t just in a foul mood because I’d almost lost Victoria. It was obvious Nino was up against some other smart little bastard on the other side of a computer, and he was getting beaten. My whole business empire was built on that system, not just the labs. How the fuck could somebody press a few keys here and there and have us dancing around like fucking puppets? A sigh slipped from his lips, and he motioned to Leo. Here we damn well go again.

Jared asks as Brock enters the kitchen. “Please,” he growls, running his hands through his hair. The man’s hair is gorgeous- it’s chocolate brown, though the sun has lightened some of the strands to more of a coppery color. It falls a few inches below his shoulders in loose waves and looks like it would be silky soft to the touch. As Brock reaches up to secure his hair back in a quick man bun, his t-shirt rides up and I get a glimpse of his lower abs and the tantalizing V shape of his Adonis belt. This guy’s body is unreal- I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I saw him in the kitchen the other night wearing nothing but his boxer briefs. His body is all three T’s: tanned, toned, and tat

The two men that stood next to me on each side would notice in an instant. “ I would like to thank you for the wonderful challenge you have given me, little one.” He smiled sitting on the chair behind his desks. My memory of him, time must not have done him good. Not sure how old he was but now he looked as if he was in his early 60s. His hair is grey and his face has gained a few wrinkles. I don’t know if he does much training either because it looks like he’s gained some weight since the last time I saw him. They bonded my wrists together with a zip tie the moment I walked through the door. Tugging on my shirt at the bottom I try to fix it to where they can see him as well. He stares at me

They all murmured amongst themselves. “What are you talking about Kilhan? You rejected her! You can’t just come back together.” “Yes, we can, Betty. And that is what is happening. And for our son, she was pregnant with him the day I rejected her and sent her out of this house. Please welcome Celine and Kendrick to the pack once again.” He uttered with a wide smile, and to my greatest surprise, they all began to clap, except Betty.

Nic looked at me and I hated that I was thinking about the cabin, which meant my face was not as serious as it should have been. I nodded to avoid them staring too long. "You need to tell us everything." "Ok. Fatty is my boss." he held onto the wound on his thigh that was gushing blood and at that rate, He would die from the wound infection than from any bullet I was going to shoot him with. "Does fatty have a real name?" He blinked once, twice and I stepped closer, catching a whiff of something unpleasant from him. "Finn Connolly. But we all call him fatty, everyone calls him fatty."
