LAYLA OPENED her eyes with a scream. She just had a bad dream—she was being chased by a burly and fully-naked tattooed man in an alleyway—whose whole body including the face and his bald head was covered with tattoos—holding a bloodied knife. She didn’t know if she was injured or wounded in her dream or if that blood belonged to another person, an earlier victim, but fortunately, she woke up at the moment the man had finally caught up with her, brutally grabbing her by the hair.

Nicholas grabbed a wolf’s jaw and ripped it off before throwing its lifeless body to the incoming ones, they almost ran away after the man looked at them as if challenging them to dare touch him. “Is this all your men got? Naster Fillus? No, Naster Fangs. Hah! Son of the fallen and missing Alpha of Dusk Pack, brother of the Alpha of Dawn pack?” Naster froze as the man easily revealed his identity. Who was this man? The people around them too were shocked to hear this, Naster Fangs? Before Natalia could respond, a sudden, sharp whistle cut through the roar of the shipyard furnaces. Down on the lower slipways, a Frost-Tooth scout was sprinting toward the command gantry, his white fur matted with sea-brine and his breathing ragged. He didn't wait for a formal salute; he threw himself down onto one knee before the stairs.

My fingers loosened against NightSword and it clattered away from me. Eryndor’s eyes were dilated, his canines dripping saliva as he dove for the sword, picking it up with a feral grin. He raised it above my head as I watched in horror. NO!, NightSword screamed in my head, in protest at being wielded by one not bonded to him. My ears popped and my vision was lost again as a powerful sonic blast emerged from the ancient weapon, a beam of energy spiraling outwards and slamming into Eryndor.

"You’re off tonight." Marcus’s vision blurred for a moment, and before he knew it, he had lunged forward with a primal, guttural growl. His fists connected with Trent’s face, but it wasn’t a clean strike. It was a savage blow, filled with all the rage that had been building inside him. His wolf took over, and Marcus could feel the shift in his mind—his control slipping.

In one swift motion, I leaped onto the beast’s back, my claws sinking deep into its dark scales. The creature bucked and twisted, trying to shake me off, but I held on tight. My fingers gripped its neck like a vise, and I called upon the full power of the Moon’s Fury. I could feel the Luna energy surge through me, increasing my strength tenfold. The furies shrieked in pain, recoiling from the blow, but they weren’t done yet. They circled us, their movements fluid, like smoke drifting through the air, searching for an opening.

The battle became both chaotic and terrifying because of its unpredictable nature. The Night-Thralls fought with the same pain-blind, suicidal aggression as Elder Thorne's army, but they possessed superior speed and strength because of their vampire venom power.
