Poor Luna had no idea what she was walking into. She was gorgeous with long dark hair and stunning blue eyes. Her last name was De Bacco, which I had forgotten to ask. She rode up to the house on a Harley with biker boots and a badass leather outfit once she unzipped the outer gear which kept her warm. Only someone as crazy as my brother would drive a Harley in forty-degree weather. It’s why teens hightail it to Cabo for spring break. My brother kissed her briefly, then turned to us.

Sera and Sven were about to inform them to retreat when the earth rumbled violently. “Shit! That's really bad! Team Alpha, fall back!” Sven shouted as a large creature appeared. It was almost thirty feet tall, more than five times the height of an average adult human. It had a bulky muscular frame and its skin was a dark blue. Its two bottom row fangs were large enough to protrude out of their mouth. There were two large horns on its head. “I'll distract it! Get the newbies!” Sera rushed to intercept the monster that was heading for team Alpha. She poured her energy onto the blade and the grooves glowed red. “Let's go, [Laevateinn]!”

The cloud-like monitor focused on her ass as she walked on her red stilettos with a seductive Cheshire grin. “Ladies and gentlemen, respectable guests, and our beloved headmaster – welcome to the first event of the Tri-World Tournament! My name is Leila and I am your host for this month.” She paused as she purred for a good second. “And for our first event, the golem race from the Forest of Lamentation as the starting point up to the arena! Are you excited?” Hell yeah! Because one of the golems is Hunger in disguise for Merlin.

Just as I was about to explain, a suitcase came barreling past and slammed into me. "Careful!" I stumbled backward, colliding into a solid, warm chest. Liam caught me instinctively, his arm tightening around my waist. His voice, usually calm and detached, carried an unmistakable edge of urgency. "Are you alright?" I didn’t answer. Because my eyes had locked onto the hair tie now fully exposed on his wrist. There was a delicate pink-and-white crystal flower dangled from it. Earlier, I only caught a fleeting glimpse. However, the longer I looked, the more familiar it felt, and the more it unsettled me.

I adjust the lens and focus on the pair. One is a woman with long dark hair walking a few steps ahead of a boy who is carrying two boxes so big, he can barely see over top of them. The woman laughs when the boy stops, puts the boxes down, and blows his hair out of his eyes. His hair is as black as hers and cut close to his head except for the top, which is long enough that it falls into his eyes. I've never seen eyes that color before. They're the most beautiful turquoise, bright, like the sparkling water of the ocean at my favorite beach in Cancun. With his tanned face and dark hair, they're striking.

The sadness started to drain away, replaced by a heat so intense it felt like my blood was turning into lava. "They think I'm a monster," I whispered. "So be the monster they fear," the wolf tempted. “Give me your soul. Let me into the cracks they broke in you. I will give you the strength to tear their world apart. I will give you the power to make them crawl."

The flames engulfed the monster and the undead screamed and plummeted toward the ground below. The second monster reached for the child, fingernails long and curved like the huge talons on a harpy eagle. The little girl screamed and screamed, the sound grating on Damonq as she threw herself to the opposite side of the blue dragon, away from the monster. Her hand slipped, and she shrieked again as she dropped into space. Damonq caught her in his arms. Instantly she began to fight.

At the same time, the seemingly calm outside suddenly let out a roar, and a huge monster suddenly rushed out from the back of the temple. Before anyone could react, the behemoth had already soared into the sky and flew directly to the black wind pillar in mid-air. "Damn, what's that?" "It seems to be some kind of beast. F*ck, it's too fast, isn't it?" "F*ck, what kind of monster is that? I'm scared." The group of people were shocked. Obviously, they were not prepared for this guy who suddenly rushed out of the temple. That was right. I looked at Sienna. She looked terrified. I looked back at Raven. "You didn't?" Raven hesitated. Just slightly. Enough. I stepped closer. "You know what your problem is?" Raven stayed quiet. "You think monsters look a certain way." The room was silent. I could hear Sienna breathing. I looked directly into Raven's eyes. "You want me to be angry." Raven's hand tightened around her phone. "You want me to confess." I smiled. "But you don't understand something."

Everybody raised their glasses, and then the event was in full swing. I caught Roman’s face harden after Levi got down from the stage. The announcement he made at the end was unnecessary, and even I was pissed, but I was glad that he didn’t mention my name or my daughter’s name. “Do you like the food, Sarah?” Roman asked my daughter, and she beamed with excitement. “Yes, my mummy makes food just like this,” she said, and I smiled before patting her hair. “Really?” Roman asked, and she nodded.
