Trading Places Christmas Novels & Stories

KICKING THE PEBBLES INSTINCTIVELY, it was that time of year again. It was December already, so it was natural that the shopping centre had transformed into a Christmas world of its own. Everywhere she stepped foot in, she was surrounded by faces of Santa Claus, Christma and bright lights. Christmas was just around the corner, and people were decorating their homes and neighbourhoods as they got ready for the festive season. Honestly, Christmas was her favourite time of the year as it was most people. People would give out presents so generously you would think they have a basement full of gifts. It was simply perfect...but this year was different.

By the seventeenth day of December, Christmas has taken over the town. Soon red and white are the only two colours the world knows—how it always happens this time each year. She understood my tactic. “Christmas?” “Isn’t it next week?” “I suppose it is.” “Can I invite Uncle Harris?” “Maybe we can celebrate at the bar.” Cyrus deflected. “I need to look forward to something joyous.”

From gold to red to green and then back to gold. The tiny Santa Claus at the foot of the tree starts speaking, that is the mechanism inside the toy, "Merry Christmas, ho ho ho." "Awwwn, that's so cute," Cam squats to inspect the toy. "I didn't see you get this at the store." "I just got it on a whim at the mall. Time to place the gifts." To us, today, the 22nd day of the month, is Christmas Eve and the 23rd, Christmas Day. So we all place our gifts at the foot of the tree and get back to eating dinner.
