Her voice soft and low. She thrust what was in her grip closer—a tray, arrays of food. A burst of mouthwatering aroma slammed me. I sniffed involuntarily.

The other one followed behind, kicking the kneeling prince one last time as he passed. Zayla quickly pulled back. The hallway was long and open, Kaelric would definitely see her even if she ran. A servant passed by at the perfect moment. Zayla dashed forward, grabbing the tray she was holding. The servant looked at her, puzzled. “I like to help,” Zayla said softly, giving a small, reassuring smile. She stayed close to the servant, ducking her head as Kaelric strode past. Once he had gone, she carefully handed the tray back to the servant, offering another quick smile before hurrying towards the last prince.

He smiles to me, his eyes telling me he wants approval. “Of course,” I murmur politely. He gets from his chair which I copy. He places his hand on the small of my back and I flinch on instinct. I think he noticed as he removed his hand. He directs me to Trey, “Princess, please meet Trey Smithson.” Trey stood and bowed to me. “It’s an honour, Princess Adelaide.” “Pleasure to meet you, Mr Smithson.” Our eyes meet, his beautiful kind hazel eyes. I want to gaze into them all day. “Please Princess, Trey will be just fine.” He gives me the tiniest knowing smile.

I am about to start buttoning the shirt when the Princess walks back into the room with a tray of food that looks too good to be meant for a slave. A piece of the bread however falls off the tray as the Princess's attention fully shifts to me. She stares for a long moment. "Your body . . . is quite a spectacular view," she smiles. "I would really like you to leave the shirt open. I can stare at your bare skin for days." My hands drops from the shirt. I do not like a word she has uttered.
