He walked to the front of the car to scan what was happening. And to his surprise. The bird was not there. His eyes scanned the area around. Frightened by the scenario. And his eyes almost popped out of their sockets at the sight of Xendy holding the bird by the side of the road. Xendy was not aware of how many eyes were on him. Or how he had saved the bird. What got to his senses then was how good this bird smelled, the scent of the bird. It dazed him as the scent hit him again.

He replied. I smiled, “Smart man. Well it was good to meet you, I am headed to Maine and I have three hours still to drive so I better get going.” I said. “It was good to finally meet you in person, Snow. You are every bit as beautiful as they say, if not more.” Shane replied. “Thank you.” I said and flashed him a million dollar smile while walking out the door. Hunters were connected through a vast network and it wasn’t uncommon to run into each other out and about. Still, it gets me when they know my name and I've never seen them before. In all these years it still surprises me.

*** Hunter leaned sideways and checked on marks staining the trees to mark a path. I heard a screech from above me and looked up. Ducking low behind a bush as Hunter flipped around to see it. Watching it with a frown. Stunned to see the largest Hawk I’d ever witnessed flying low above me. Coasting below the tree canopy and seeming very intent on Hunter and I. His vibrant green eyes were visible even to me. The bird landed in a tree a distance away and watched me keenly. But I felt creeped out by his intense study. Feeling spied on.

He only knew that he had said something he wasn’t supposed to say. The man turned toward the girls and smiled. “My name is Wendell Carson. I’m a wildlife expert from The Wolf Sanctuary in Mountain Range. In an old life, I was Hunter’s known grandfather.” Ash’s eyes widened. She had only ever heard of Hunter’s grandfather from Lavinia, Hunter’s mother. The story of him killing and eating Lavinia’s horses shot through her mind. Her heart beat faster and her palms began to sweat. Celia and Izzy merely looked on, confused.

She stands in the opening, her hair tumbling out of a messy bun and her cheeks flushed. “Get inside!” I hiss. She crowds in with Kieran and I. “Sort of cramped, isn’t it?” “We were already talking.” I shake my head, my heart hammering. “It doesn’t matter. You found it? The feather?” She nods so enthusiastically a few more hairs come loose. “It comes from a collared tern.” “O…kay?” I exchange a confused look with Kieran. Raven huffs a sigh. “Terns are mountain birds, almost never seen outside of Snowcrest Canyon or what used to be Starfall Mountain.”

"Please!" Trent shrugs and lets out a sigh of defeat. "Fine! It's Jordan Henderson!" "Good job Becca," Tim tells me on the other end. "That's sad... We are going to miss him on the team. "First of all, I don't know who the hell Jordan Henderson is. "Yeah," he shrugs. Tim tells me to ask him something that makes my heart sink. Tim requests me to ask him about Sophie. I honestly wasn't expecting this. I go silent for a while then I finally gather up the strength quickly to ask him the question since time is not on our side and the cameras are on.
