“I wanted to make sure you were settling in okay. No drama with the head cheerleader.”
“No drama as of yet.”
“Lunch?”
“I’m starving.” He took my bag again as we walked to the cafeteria. Women were again falling all over themselves, gawking at Ghost. Today, he wore jeans, a red patterned flannel, and a cream-colored thermal underneath. Soft brown suede hiking boots completed his look.
We stood in line, deciding what to eat. “Spicy chicken sandwiches!” He gasped and made a beeline for the counter, ordering two specials. “Esmerelda, what do you want?”
