The television was tuned to the news channel, as it had been for days. I couldn’t turn it off. I couldn’t stop watching. It was like watching an accident in slow motion, the kind of disaster you know is going to happen but can’t avoid. And there he was. Tristan. On the screen in the living room of my family’s country house, in a setting I didn’t recognize. He wore a simple white shirt, cuffs rolled up, hair combed back. He looked tired. He looked sincere. He looked exactly the opposite of what I knew he was.

The headlines startled me: TRUMAN INC’S CEO, ERIC TRUMAN, INVOLVED IN GHASTLY CAR ACCIDENT. The news anchor, a petite blonde, read out the news from her tab, maintaining eye contact with the screen. “Truman Inc.'s CEO, Eric Truman, is said to have been involved in a ghastly car accident last night between the hours of 11 p.m. and midnight. An eyewitness report says they found the young billionaire’s car, a black BMV rammed against the back of a tow truck, and were lucky to have been there to call 911. The hospital is yet to release updates of Mr. Truman's. We pray he has a speedy recovery.”

I looked at him and forced a smile. "EVERYONE! REMEMBER OUR SMARTEST STUDENT BRIANNA QUINN? LET'S WELCOME OUR LADY BOSS!" Everyone clapped their hands but I just forced a smile. Mr. Truman seemed very proud but I felt so uncomfortable. People started greeting me. All because Mr. Truman keeps on holding my hand and caressing my arm. He's naturally kind and clingy but there are times I'd feel irritated with his attitude. The party continued. Mr. Truman finally let go of me but he warned me not to leave early. I sat on the table at the corner while drinking ladies drinks. I was watching the people talking and dancing.

David said calmly. Truman was so shocked that he was already speechless.

I can't help but swallow my saliva when Truman corners me with his hands, our bodies were only an inches away from each other. "What do you mean, Truman? I'm living a normal life, I'm a history professor here and one thing is for sure, I am not messing with someone's life. I don't even know that your son already found his mate, poor boy." I replied and smirk at him to hide the nervousness that I'm feeling right now. Truman just raised his brows at me as if he doesn't believe me. "Don't take me for a fool, Jeremy. I know what you're doing, stop messing and meddling with my son's mate."

The fact that these uncles of the Ford family are still safe and sound is probably all thanks to Killian's kindness. The sad thing is that these people are still not satisfied. For the next period of time, Truman never bothered her again, probably thinking that she was too greedy and didn't know her place, and that she was not worth his effort. Unknown to him, the day after she met with him, Killian was meeting with a business partner at the golf course. As he was about to leave, Truman arrived. The two sat down in the sunroom. Truman handed over a cigar, but Killian raised his hand to decline. "I quit."

The anger was still‌ there, but​ it was being swallowed whole by a d​awn‌ing, ho​r​r‍ific u⁠nderstan⁠ding of the‍ s​cale of his mista‌k⁠e. Silas l‍eaned fo‌rward, hi‌s ey⁠es narrowing to icy slits. His vo‌ice dropped ev‌en further, becoming a deadl‍y‌ whisp‌er that seemed to suck‍ a‌ll the sou‍n​d fr⁠om the hall. “But it see​ms​ I need to be c‍learer. Do yo⁠u not know who I a‌m? I am Silas fuc‌king Truman.”

Making it seem like the world revolves around me, and that this is a movie or some kind of a TV show. Something like the Truman Show, starring Jim Carrey. “Oh fuck, what if they are both plotting your downfall, sis?” Trudy actually sounds concern, and that concern is genuine in a way. I can’t help, but to think about what he just said for a moment there. There’s a part of me that immediately found him trustworthy, and that maybe he’s right. There’s also a part of me that somehow grew found of Vincent, and slightly believes that he wouldn’t scheme with Bryce.

He watches over the crowd as people start calling numbers, choosing between the red haired and brunette. “I bet the brunette will cum before the red-haired with the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars.” Everyone in the room goes still…but I knew the moment I heard the amount. The moment I heard the voice that it’s him. “Nathan.” I call and turn behind me to see my all-time buddy, grinning as he watches the scene and then me. “Being a while, Truman.” To be continued...
