“Wanna go again?” END OF BOOK TWO

He was saying but I shut him up. "Shhhh," I said and Reed was wondering what was happening, he could see me looking at a particular spot and traced my eyes down to what caught my attention. Reed noticed two boys standing by the road and arguing with each other. "Don't tell me you now take delight in watching little boys argue with each other. It will be nice if you join them don't you think? Come on let's go already, I'm sure their mother is just around the corner somewhere." He said but I wasn't even listening to him. I walked up to the boys and tapped the one who seemed to be the leader of the duo on the shoulder. They both turned to look at me and that was when I realized they were twins.

Cassius said with a smirk, likely mistaking my gaze on the bookshelves as me restraining myself from browsing them. Despite not feeling as enthusiastic as he assumed, I still went for the books. I let my hands trail across the spine of the books, stopping on the thickest one. I carefully pulled it out, afraid to even scratch the cover. “That’s the novel section of the books. There’s really no title on the cover because it’s printed on the first page,” Cassius explained from his bean bag. I nodded at his explanation and opened the book. My heart nearly dropped upon reading the title. Was this just a coincidence? Written in an elegant font was ‘The Second Time Around: Chronicles of Ava Midgen’

Birdie stepped out of the room and came back with a glass of water for me to calm down. I drank the water halfway through the cup and took a deep breath before speaking again. As I explained everything from meeting Liam and falling in love, and ending up having his baby, I wanted to be sure Birdie understood. I know she would. Birdie was like me when she had her son but the difference between Orlando and Liam; one is a crook, and one is a boy who seems trapped. Not physically but verbally. And somehow, I could never reach him.

The step completed. Nothing happened. Then— The same moment happened again. Not a repetition. Not a loop. A second version. The wolf stepped forward— Differently. A slight variation in angle. In weight. In outcome. Both steps existed. Simultaneously. Overlapping. Two realities occupying the same space. The world did not break. It held both. Levi’s breath caught. “That’s not—” The second variation changed. Not by choice. By influence. The eye shifted slightly.

She hadn’t been here since college. Inside, it smelled like old paper and nostalgia. She walked the aisles, running her fingers along spines of books she used to pretend she’d read. The quiet settled over her like a soft blanket. No agendas. No secrets. Just stories. She sat on the floor between fiction and essays and let herself breathe. Cassian didn’t call. He didn’t text. And maybe that was wise. Anais wasn’t ready to hear his voice—especially if it came with the wrong kind of apology. The kind meant to soothe, not change.

He tilted his head, and his dark hair gleamed under the ceiling lights. “Don’t play innocent. The vultures never rest. Your name is dancing across every headline again. Articles, interviews, and rumors on the stock floor. Roman Wolfe’s almost‑bride resurfaces. They’re digging up everything, Zaria. The yacht, the betrayal, the conveniently timed explosion.” Felix stiffened beside me, but Darian’s gaze didn’t shift from my face. “And,” he added softly, “Your disappearance. Some call it grief. While others call it guilt.”

In the whole world, there are only a handful of genies in existence. They’re extremely intelligent and have this ability to cast very realistic illusions. There have only been two genies to ever study in this place. Rachel might be the third.” “Wait,” I frown. “But you said you didn’t see-“
