What was the worst that could happen? The door closed behind me, and I jumped again in fear as dust from the impact matted the air. This was how every horror story began, someone finding their exploring interests at the wrong place and time. I coughed a few times then began to journey further, using my torch to illuminate all the places around but what I saw was rusting metal and dust covered books. There were clothes and rags that were thickly coated by dust too.

The candlelight flickered across his face — and he began to speak. “This story is about the day I saw a human being die with my own eyes. But it didn’t end there. Because… the very next day, he was sitting in my class again.” The auditorium fell silent. Every gaze was fixed on that man — and inside every heart, something unseen knocked softly… like fear asking to be let in. A faint breeze moved through the auditorium. The candle flames trembled — and every shadow seemed to crawl along the walls like some hidden creature.

A scream tore through Lilith's lips, and she crawled away from the grave in sheer terror, panting heavily. As fear consumed her, Lilith felt a presence behind her. Slowly, she turned around, trembling with trepidation. To her astonishment, the dead girl stood there, her sad expression unchanged. They locked eyes, but the dead girl remained silent, her ghostly presence sending shivers down Lilith's spine. Overwhelmed by the sight of the apparition, Lilith rose to her feet and scrambled out of the woods, screaming in fear with each step.

Amidst the eerie silence, the voices of a man and a woman reverberated, their whispers akin to ghostly murmurs in the abyss. "Suzanne, save us! It's so cold... Run away, Suzanne! Don't look back!" their voices pleaded, wrenching at Suzanne's heart with each desperate cry. Suzanne sprinted aimlessly through the pitch-black surroundings, her senses consumed by fear as an ominous presence loomed over her. The sinister voice echoed through the void like a haunting chant, "Kill her... Kill her, and the money is yours... Kill her!" A shadowy figure materialized before Suzanne, its malevolent gaze piercing through the darkness. Its bloodied hands reached out and wrapped around her throat, suffocati

Her pulse thunders in her ears, and it takes precious moments for the residual terror to subside in the tiniest sense of it. In the eerie stillness of the night, Marisol clutched at the sheets, her heart racing wildly owing to the scare of the nightmare that had taken a few nights off, only to return stronger than it would seem. The vivid imagery of the beast persists even behind her closed lids, haunting her waking moments as she grapples with the remnants of the surreal horror that had unfolded in her dreams.

“Now you’re almost grown, and almost grown means curious, which means dangerous.” I cross my arms. “I am grown!” I shout. She doesn’t hesitate. “There are bonehounds. Starving, half-dead things with skin stretched tight over broken skeletons. They smell blood and chase it for miles. There are whisperers, creatures that climb inside your head and convince you to walk off cliffs or drink poison. There’s a woman made of smoke who turns into a bird and pecks out eyes with her beak. A man with bark for skin who collects girls and grows them into his tree.”

Rain asked, eyeing the twins like they might pounce. I hesitated. “Like what?” “I don’t know! ‘Hey, you okay?’ ‘Blink twice if you’re not cursed? ’ I snorted, but the sound came out nervous. “They might not even hear us.” Rain waved a cautious hand in front of them. “Uh… hello? Earth to Rowan and Gemma?” Nothing. Not a twitch. He dropped his hand. “Okay, that’s not normal.” “No kidding.” “I’m telling you, this is how horror movies start,” Rain whispered. “Two kids staring into space, everyone ignores the signs, next thing you know, someone’s getting dragged into a mirror or eaten by shadows.”

Did he? The sound of a knock at the door shattered the quiet, and I bolted upright, my eyes wide with fear. Kael stirred beside me, his grip tightening before releasing as he mumbled something incoherent. My heart pounded as I slid out of bed, the cold floor sending a jolt through my body. The knock came again, more insistent this time.

Her mind reeled as she tried to process the horror that stood before her, her thoughts racing with primal fears and desperate prayers for escape. She had been sleeping soundly, but the sudden noise jolted her awake from a deep slumber, like a crack of thunder, a physical blow, striking her with the force of a thousand fears. She was met with a terrifying sight that made her blood run cold - a huge black werewolf looming over her, its eyes glowing with an unnatural hunger, like embers in the dark.
