Through the haze of the deep, a structure began to emerge from the silt of the seafloor. It wasn't a wreck. It was a dome—a sleek, obsidian iris built into the very tectonic plates of the North Sea shelf. This was the Nadir, the Owners' true sanctuary, the subterranean twin to the orbital Apex. Dante steered them toward a pressurized airlock near the base of the dome. His movements were slowing, his muscles seizing from the extreme cold, but his grip on Ivy never wavered. He slammed a palm against the external sensor.

But the boy would fall here. “Oh so this is his plan. But how would he see?” the man smirked when he saw what was happening. The entire dome was filled with dust, making it hard for any of them to see. Since the dome was a barrier, it fixed itself whenever it was dented. Although the fixing took time, it would still happen. This meant that the opening they had used was long sealed up. If Abe wanted to escape they would hear it. So although they couldn’t see, they had their ears. Unfortunately Abe’s ears were far better; his opponents just didn’t know it.

"If you snap the bone again, I am breaking your laptop in half and giving the team another two weeks off." I drop my hand and lean back against the counter. "You wouldn't." He doesn't smile. He just looks at me. He absolutely would. Sadistic bastard. That is just the way I like him though. The buzzer on the wall panel chirps. Kir walks to the panel, checks the security feed, and hits the release button. A minute later, the front door swings open, and our four-week quarantine is officially over. Dom walks in first. He said, shuddering again. "Oh really?" I said taunting him as I turned and kissed my wife. "Ugh, he said, covering his eyes with his hands, making me laugh amused. Inside the room— The door finally gave way. It slammed open against the wall. Dominic Valtieri stepped inside. Black coat. Cold expression. Eyes sharp enough to carve through bone. He stood in the center of the room, breathing once—deep—and his entire body tightened like a predator locking onto scent. Jessica dragged Thea into the trees. Thea stumbled, heart thundering. Dom turned toward the bathroom. Slow. Controlled. Certain. He walked inside. And when he saw the open window— still warm from their escape— his entire world narrowed to a single point.
