Quinn had to have one for his tree, so he ordered two, one for his place and one for Willow to put in her house.

The oak tree. “That’s the oak tree.” Carlton says and someone squeals beside Andre. Griffin. Then with his eyes widen in amazement he exclaims, “The royal tree of the forest!”

My life is pathetic. The teacher started teaching and I tried my best to listen but I just couldn’t my head was pounding. Two more lessons later and it was lunch break. I went back to that oak tree. It seemed no one claimed it so I sat under to clear my head. It was a beautiful old tree that I’m pretty sure has seen many generations pass by. It was also a lonely tree that not many people acknowledged. “Hey, beautiful.” It was Hector. I didn’t see him coming but I could smell his scent before he got close enough.

I go until I’m far above the ground, far enough that looking straight down leaves me feeling dizzy. Don’t look down, don’t look down. I tell myself and look straight ahead. I’ve wrapped my arms around the tree trunk and I’m gripping tight. It’s some kind of oak tree, with large wide branches and a sturdy trunk. It’s thick with leaves in midsummer and they rustle gently in the light wind. Below is the hard baked ground and a little way away, the pool that comes down from the waterfall before the river rushes away through the forest.
