CABARET ‘TILL THE DAWN “Wuooo! Wuooo!” The sound of thousands of men was heard in the club. Dim red lights, the heavy smell of sweat coming from those ones looked at the dancing woman with desire, the loud music sounding and the sound of crystal bottles hitting each other was the picture Camila saw every weekend. Smiling with seduction, she walked over the stage with her black heels undoing her bra and covering her breast with her forearm while the men continuing screaming her name. “So where are we?” Max got out of the car and walked around to open my door. “Come. I want to show you something.” I stepped out, shivering slightly as a breeze kissed my skin. Max reached into the backseat and pulled out his jacket, draping it over my shoulders without a word. The scent of cedarwood and something primal clung to it his scent. We followed the cobblestone path in silence. It led us through a thicket of trees until we reached a small clearing. A wrought iron fence enclosed a beautifully kept grave, surrounded by wildflowers and lavender. A marble headstone stood at its center.

My mind was completely, wonderfully quiet. Leo sat down beside me, taking my hand in his. His fingers were warm and strong. "Where are we going now?" I asked softly, opening my eyes to look at him. Leo looked out the window toward the vast, green expanse of the outer forests stretching far beyond the old city walls—a place no citizen of Oakhaven had been allowed to see for fifty years. She looked at the leaves and half rotten acorns around its base. “It’s a black oak.” She whispered to Amber. “How can you tell?” “You have to look at the leaves and the acorns. Those are black oak leaves and acorns.” “Okay.” Amber looked up at the tree.

Tears formed in my eyes but stopped when Alqamar slouched again so he can put me down. I swallowed hard and calm myself down. Don’t be weak now Lexis or Alqamar will suspect you. I go until I’m far above the ground, far enough that looking straight down leaves me feeling dizzy. Don’t look down, don’t look down. I tell myself and look straight ahead. I’ve wrapped my arms around the tree trunk and I’m gripping tight. It’s some kind of oak tree, with large wide branches and a sturdy trunk. It’s thick with leaves in midsummer and they rustle gently in the light wind. Amelia's POV As I made my way through the forest, the familiar sight of the towering oak tree greeted me like an old friend. Its gnarled branches reached out to me, casting dappled shadows upon the forest floor as if beckoning me closer.
